I read somewhere that Boateng had said something to the referee three times before he walked off.
In some respects, Blatter has a point, it would be chaos if players walked off every time the heard or thought they heard (Chelsea v Clattenburg) a racist insult. But in typical Blatter style he misses the main point and the opportunity for positive reform. Racism is the main problem, not the disruption to matches due to players walking off, and this incident could be used as a reason to give the referee additional powers to suspend and call off the game, with players told to report such incidents to the officials. Then the referee could suspend the game, allowing an opportunity for police to eject offenders and then the officials could consult with managers about continuing the game. If the games got stopped there might be some self-policing by the fans if they felt the game would be suspended.
