Orlando

Is this the bit you talk about in the shaving post?

Seriously though, I have no issues with gays, and it's horrific what's happened in Orlando.
what should it matter to anyone what your orientation is, who is it harming?
Religion. It's pretty much the source of all human evil.

Or because they're gay and they hate themselves? That appears to be the case with this Orlando nutter.

It's been revealed that he frequented the Pulse night club and also used several gay dating apps! Madness.

Not really been reading much coverage - has anyone suggested that this might have just been scoping for targets?

I assume apps will tell you where lots of people cluster and visiting a target site to scope it out is muslamic infidel 101 isn't it?

Perhaps, but he was a regular at the same club for at least a year according to locals. One or two visits perhaps to scope out the place maybe, but I'm with Nayenezgani (did I spell that right?), seems quite possible that he felt guilty about being gay knowing how religion is particularly intolerant of gays.

Just in case you didn't bother to read what I wrote "I'M NOT SAYING THEY SHOULD BE THE ONLY THINGS"

I did read what you wrote. I'm not saying you think they should be the only things. You've provided essentially no reasoning supporting your view so there hasn't been much to read, I provided some arguments to the contrary. Feel free to counter those or not as you please.

I suppose I believe you should

Respect your parents as in most cases they have done a lot to bring you up
Not kill people I cannot see how that is not right
Not commit adultery, if you don't like your choice of partner then make a brake as this can hurt a lot of people, but some people may be happy for their partner to do it, but not for me
Not steal how is right to take something that is not yours
Not bear false witness, lying is probably the most commonly done, but most conflicts are started by people lying.
Not covet, I think envy just makes your life worse, by all means aspire to better but achieve it by your own efforts

As I said I'm not religious but have little time for organised religions, some people need a GHod in their life and I don't have a problem with that as long as they respect my views.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Only bit of sense in the bible.

Don't do to someone what you wouldn't want done to you. Very simple and something I always try in keep in mind.
The rest is generally BS.

I'm not convinced that the number of people that actually need a GHod in their life is particularly high if existent at all.

Some of what is said in the ten commandments is just fine, as I already said. For me at best 5 things out of the 10 are decent, and most of those 5 are obvious and close to universal in terms of moral codes and ethics. That's not impressive at all for ethical standards, and meanwhile praising those 10 (because there are 10) keeps justifying the irrational beliefs of religious people.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Golden rule is good, though again not exactly original for the bible of course. Though earlier than some, so some credit is due.

No, really a genuine questions. Have been plenty of stuff said and written about the ten commandments by atheists and I'm rather convinced they're right. So I'm wondering what you think is good about them.

Doesn't mean we just do as we like. Far from it. If anything most atheists that are critical of the ten commandments are critical based on what's missing and are suggesting better moral imperatives to live by.

A bit late on this one Brain!

Which one of the Ten commandments do you think is wrong?

Thou shalt not kill.
it's a pity people could not keep to just this one. would we not have a more peacefull
World?
