OOMT: Spurs vs Woolwich Nomads

Just look at Lamela today. Here he is single handed deciding he's taking that ball back.

We really lost something when he went off. I said at half time leave him on regardless. If you were listening to BT Sport you'd think he committed foul after foul and was tethering on the edge. But Lamela is smarter than that. He only committed one foul in the entire game. And he was booked for that. In the end Dier was the one who was close to getting the red. But I thought the ref was lenient enough today. Coquelin only went off because the ref let him away with the late tackle on Kane after 8 minutes. With a different ref he would have went off in the first half.

I would agree (your observations on his game today are excellent) with you except for the fact that Sanchez was doing all he could to get him a second yellow and I feel they would've conned a second yellow out of the situation. I was fudging furious when Sanchez tried that one, glad Oliver booked him

3 points isn't a big enough gap with our fixtures. 6 would have allowed us to lose 2 games and Arsenal winning 2 to be level again. It's would have been such a massive thing for our chances.

Considering they wee fragile and had 10 men and we still couldn't do it. That's what annoys me the most!

Dembele did not look fully fit to me.

I thought the same about Alli too, although that could just be simple fatigue? How we handle the squad now is interesting, because some are tiring and we need people coming in to step up. I thought Ryan was disappointing in terms of effect on the game today, and Sonny is in a wretched run of form.

The happy clapper in me says that we are riding out our 'blip' right now, and we might well find a new hero in the coming weeks (Onomah???)

They weren't the better team at all I'm not sure where this is coming from - we were the better team just didn't create enough to say we deserved to win - a draw is a fair result, one that they'll be ecstatic with and we are gutted with...which says it all

Indeed. Throughout the match we were on top except perhaps maybe the last 20 minutes. Exactly the same as the last game against them. You can't forget about the previous 70 because of the last 20.

We were the better side and that's coming from the sort of pessimist who would usually call a spade a spade even if it probably isn't actually a spade, just to be safe...

our fixtures that now only include one game against a team in the top 6?

we play 2 sides who are already down and 3/4 with nothing to play for

there may be some big names in there but that's all they are, names, there is a reason those squads are all mid table, they are not very good

And IF those big names are to be feared then they should be feared by Leicester and Arsenal who still have to play at least one of them.

Cant believe the heavy knee jerk reaction on here today. Yes we were leading 2-1 against 10 men and should have held on, but this is a London derby and we all know that 10 men can play as well as 11 for 30 minutes in any game but particularly in a local derby. It is not the end of the world, we are still 3 points ahead of Arsenal with a vastly superior goal difference so really a 4 point gap.

Arsenal were not really that good today and got lucky with the Kane shot that was almost totally over the line and their 2nd goal. Their best player was probably Welbeck and how likely is he to play all the remaining 9 games. Still fancy us to finish above Arsenal and finish either 2nd or 3rd. Top is still on and with 2 winnable games coming up things are still looking good for us. At the end of the day we are a good side.

Well that WAS a bottle job, no matter what anyone says. If you are "going for the title" you don't surrender 2 points like that when you are playing against 10 men at home.
You can't on the one hand say "it was a London derby" or "it was against Arsenal" and then state how poor Arsenal were or how poor we made them look and say we didn't bottle it. If it was Arsenal playing at home to US and we went down to 10 men, do you think WE would have been able to get an equaliser? Well we know the answer to that one....
Ah well, we should just forget about the title as we're not ready.

After that draw, i hope Leicester can hold onto their lead so that L'Arse can feel out of the title race soon...

I couldn't disagree more. Nothing happens in a bubble and on the day we played well but not quite well enough.

Yes, we played well. But that was a GOLDEN opportunity we didn't take today, both to go top AND to pull away from L'Arse - and at home and vs 10 men. I can't remember a better opportunity...

Seriously? You can't believe the reaction when, we have what might be a once in a life-time opportunity to win the league, we lead our biggest rivals at home 2-1, they are down to 10 and there's 20 minutes to go and we flat out bottle it? You are surprised that people are upset? Are you phucking for real?

No we don't mate. In fact, IF we REALLY believe in Poch, what he's doing, what the squad is and what the potential of this side/our future is, then this is precisely the sort of situation we will be involved in for seasons to come. I think that is going to be the case. And I think Poch has proven that he, and his squad, are quick learners...

So we really blew it at the end. You can understand the disappointment on here. I followed it on here at six and thought we had lost it anyway going by the comments when they were ahead.
We have to toughen up and be more threatening in front of goal and take chances.
Not the end of the world just yet.
We're still second!

I actually thought we were really good in many periods of the game, but we looked a bit nervous at the back with ten minutes to go of the first half and with 15 minutes to go of the second. We definitely wanted it, and fought like bears throughout. We had more chances than them and more shots on goal than they had. Unfortunately, it was a bit gung ho at some point after going up 2-1. We looked to be in complete control for a good period after taking the lead, I honestly couldn't see anyone but us scoring the next goal. I don't think I've ever felt so confident of us winning a derby as at that point, but when Lamela was taken off, we seemed to lose some momentum (not that I think that was the turning point in itself though). We seemed a bit headless in our attacking and wanting the third goal. I see some of you complain that we didn't manage to shut Scum out and set up camp (but that we tried to do this), but it seemed to me like we pressed too many men forward to get a third, when we could in fact have stayed more composed at the back and build more slowly.

Very disappointed not to win, but overall, bar a few mistakes, I thought our performance was good. Some passages of play we had were really impressive. And what a goal by Kane! Jesus christ, I would've been watching that over and over and over had we won this game.

It's tough to take, especially when Leicester just won and lead us by 5 points. It will mount the pressure on Leicester, and let us work away with our fixtures. Still almost 1/4 of a season left, so lots of twists and turns still to come, no doubt.

Just got home. Absolutely GUTTED to drop 2 points. Tired and jaded all throughout the team. Eriksen was particularly poor as was Kane other than a great goal.

I was screaming in the first half. Anyone else see the free kick we had just outside the box where Eriksen just passed back to the keeper? Lamela was on the edge of the box literally unmarked!! I've no idea why the fudge Eriksen didn't roll it to him he was in yards of space.

The shelf was rocking when Kane scored I nearly thought it was gonna collapse!!

We couldn't believe they scored the second down to ten men and not particularly offering anything it was disappointing.

Overall feeling amongst everyone walking out at the end was like a defeat. Certainly feels like two dropped points today.

Oh and no double training sessions this week Poch please let them rest!!

I'm not sure things pan out that way for us Steff. The last time we were top of the league in March was the 60's, so even our great teams in the 80's didn't manage it. Leicester have never won the league and they are sitting pretty right now, this season is crazy I don't see next season, with Chelsea and City having two top new managers and another £200m spent on them apiece, plus Man Utd (maybe Mourinho) and another fortune spent, plus Liverpool with Klopp from the very start and with some more money spent, being anything like this one. Historically, we don't get these chances in the league very often. We are not in a position to spurn opportunities and I feel today is once too often for us to go on and win it now, and to potentially blow it against that lot down the road is just a massive downer.

We can get 6 points in the next 2 games, but Leicester are now 5 clear, so they will likely be ahead of us when we play Liverpool away and Man United at home. I thought we had blown it when we lost 0-1 to Leicester, but then we went on a great run and it seemed like we might do it. But we are running out of games to make up the points, assuming Leicester aren't just going to start losing every game. We simply have to put pressure on them and we failed to do so today.

If we win the league, it's a game changer for the club. If we don't, then next season just goes back to business as usual. I'm gutted because we could have put Leicester in 2nd place for their game v Watford, see how they handled it. Instead, we've given them an opportunity to go 5 clear and they have taken it. We need an amazing run from here and maybe it's just the last 20 mins from today clouding my mind, but I can't see it.

Agree DZA. We're gift wrapping this title to a bunch of relegation fodder from Leicester. I can't be pleased for them at all.

If we come second to Leicester I'll seriously consider following football next season. It's a joke.

I most heartily, and I mean HEARTILY, disagree with the bit on bold mate.

we, second, Tottenham fudging Hotspur, Tottenham fourteenth Hotpsur, finishing second in the PL, straight into the CL group stage

I'll be drunk dancing for a month

I don't think I've ever felt this bad in my life. Not from football anyway. I feel like I'll never get over this. I just feel like dying.

When I'm 90 and lying on my death bed, I will think about this game. "In 2016, Spurs had the chance to win the league, and we blew it in a game against Arsenal when we were 2-1 up against ten men and still messed it up." We'll never get another chance like this in my lifetime, I am sure of it.
