You can have all the cameras and replays in the world. It doesn't help if the referees who interpret the pictures are clueless.

Exactly - that wasn't the technology's fault...it was the referee coming up with an absurd decision. Nothing 'clear and obvious' about it at all - smacks of the referee wanting to make a name for himself
It does someway go against the argument technology will stop the mistakes though, he had the tech mistake happened.

The whole point of it would be to sort out the mistakes the ref isn't aware he's made or if there's something he hasn't seen. He should not be reviewing the incident at all, but just be told what the video ref is seeing.
