It doesn't matter who is missing you set the team up in a coherent way.
Playing against a narrow Burnley team he sets up with a really narrow 3 up front, 2 in central midfield (against 4 sometimes), 3 at the back. Meaning all the width and forward momentum has to come from the wing backs. But he then picks two centre backs as wing backs.
It's unbelievable. Literally playing into their hands. If you got Dyche to decide our tactics it wouldnt be far off this. There are three players on the bench who would make better wing backs.

Agreed. But we also have a game on Tuesday. Our players are such muppets they can't cope with two games in a week dontchaknow.

Can someone explain to me the benefits of 5 at the back?

It's for when your opponent is great in possession and get lots of efforts in on your goal...

30 minutes in and thus far Burnley have had 46% ...... They've had 10 efforts on our goal, with 5 being on target.

It's clearly working for us...

I hate to say it, but this team has gone from a misfiring team under Poch to a broken one under Mourinho. Poch back?

Can we just sack Mourinho? I know it will cost the club money but it’s clearly not working out. We’re getting worse under Mourinho. Strikers or no strikers...the performance, the motivation, the team tactics, the results...lately none of that has been there.

Jose’s rope-a-dope tactics.

I've been really trying to focus on watching Ndombele. His touches when he gets it are generally excellent, but I dont think I've seen him sprint once yet. He jogs around A LOT, but pretty much never sprints to try to get into a position to receive the ball or help defensively
