If we could have just eked out 25% of those points dropped from winning positions… a bit more positivity, a bit more belief, a bit more luck.

Not to mention a slew of stand on-pitch and VAR decisions that went against us.

For all the managerial turmoil and poor play, perhaps it’s not such a huge overhaul that we need to get back into the top four. A couple of quality additions and some proper organization could do it.

It’s not that straightforward as the league thsi year has been really really odd
What has cost us is Saudi Sportswashing Machine results, especially at home where we were cheated rules they changed afterwards
And West Ham at home where bale got flattened but didn’t get his penalty as he pulled the trigger

Yes, that foul on Bale when he would have made it 4-2 would have made all the difference in that game and potentially in his season - would have been a goal early in his career which could have really set him up to play more that much earlier on.

Just look at how we still feel about Bale, even without this season (and in fairness his part time role has been fun). Time’s a great healer.

Actually I was wrong. We go straight into the pre-group "playoff" 19th August.

There are 3 qualifying rounds + playoff and teams go into them depending on the country coefficient, top 5 countries straight into the final round.
