***OMT: Tottenham Hotspur vs. Fulham *** Sunday, December 1, 1:30 pm UK

It's great that werner and spence have suddenly become the answer to our problems, wasn't so long ago fans were groaning when they were on the team sheet.
I am also delighted that the youngsters who should not be playing in the cup games or it looks like we aren't taking them seriously have turned into PL quality players.
Stop over exaggerating. No one has said they are the answer to our problems! Today was about players clearly being exhausted, and everyone could see that. Everyone could also see that Fulham had more energy, and were more likely to win, until the sending off, which merely levelled the field, with us having several players at 50-60%. A fresh player, although of lesser quality, is better than an exhausted player. That's what people are saying, not that Spence and Werner is the answer to all our problems!

Taking off Son instead of Werner and bringing on Spence for Porro would probably not make the result of this game any different, but it could possibly have had a positive effect for the upcoming games. That's the issue here.

I think we’re both on opposite sides of the fence compared to where we were two months ago. To quote one of our legends, it’s a funny old game.

I’m gone with Ange ball
I’m down with his philosophy
But he played a player today in a position where he can’t play effectively
It meant no Ange ball and meant we were a mess
That was on him and his team selection
He could have avoided all of that with a Smart Selection
It’s what he will be judged on IMO

And Lankshear only got 7 minutes.

And only got them due to gray getting injured.

What I am wondering is, were we resting Solanke today even if he was healthy?

Or did we change our plan once he turned up ill?

If we set up to play this game with Solanke up top, and then he isn't available, wouldn't Lankshear or Kulusevski be the natural replacements?

I think Solanke would have played had he not been ill, Ange doesn’t seem the type to rest players.

I think it got changed late on and Werner came in, he’s been a sub more often than not lately.

There was no prob with the team that started today, the issue was with not changing it when it wasn't working.
Son was terrible yet left on and Porro has been run into the ground and was in obvious need of a rest.
Even those two subs and brining Kulu on earlier would've been something.
Especially as it seemed pretty bloody obvious that Fulham were getting more and more confident and creating more and more chances. And that THEIR subs made a difference to the game. Ange doesn’t seem too keen on making subs until
It’s too late.

I'd love to see the young players get a chance but their best chance of doing well on debut or early in their career is to get in a strong team playing well, our bench today was very inexperienced and despite it only being Fulham (all teams in PL are rubbish apart from top 3) it would have been a major gamble.
I think we would have given the young players more off a chance if we hadn't had so many injuries. Many of our first eleven have been struggling this season Son, Maddison, Udogie have been inconsistent and injuries have over extended our resources.
I thought a draw was the best we could expect from that team today and it's going to be tough up until we get some senior players back.

Ha ha, I'm the one that's exaggerating, have you read some of stuff on here

I said last season Son was cooked and there was only a couple who thought it then, it's become more obvious to people this season. I honestly think him being captain hinders us on a few levels, we need someone else as captain and him no longer a starter. How on earth Werner was taken off and not Son I have no idea.....
Yep, been saying since last also and loads were arguing that he was still world class and still top class. It just takes so long sometimes for fans to separate the emotion from the reality. There's a hope that he will pull it back but it's just father time doing his job. It happens to everyone.

He can’t pull it back because he has lost the extra yard he had and his touch has always been average
He excelled with second ball separation and using space which he doesn’t get in a team that keeps the ball

Remember me saying in the summer that he can't play WF anymore? Honestly striker is the only role for him and if hes not CF for (and he shouldn't be, Solanke is clearly better) he shouldn't be playing for us.

The problem is we don't have anyone of top quality to start on the left instead of him. So i think Ange is falling for a bit of nostalgia and hoping that Son can still pull of those finishes. For me he's done on the wing and I've said it and had those debates with you.

We have potential in oderbert and Moore (who I think will end up a 10) and literally no one else on the right now other than johnson
We have Werner who is hated by many but effective in this system
And richarlison who can play there but is made of glass it seems
I think we fox the left with a okayed delivering an output as much as Johnson and then we can look at who we bring in on the right
Son can still finish’s sometimes I’m sure
But his decision making in front of goal the last two games smacks to me of a player is past it and on the downward spiral
Said it in the match thread that it remind me of Hugo’s demise in his last season

Son just doesn’t look … right. To me anyway.

While I concede he is decline and has been for some time, does anyone else think he’s carrying something like the Conte season? A hernia / groin issue?

GHod, this is painful atm. I really can’t fathom the subs, or rather lack thereof today. Mental. Porro should’ve been off and Johnson was also blowing out of his arse from 60 mins on too and unable to track back.
He maybe carrying a knock. Who knows. But isn't Salah the same age and seems to be doing fine but is also playing in his position.

We really do make it harder for ourselves at times with the decisions we make

Players gave everything. Can't fault them. We're just knackered, and Ange has to take the responsibility, for not getting fresh players on for those clearly running on fumes, like Porro and Son! Instead, he takes off Werner, who looked like he had lots left in the tank!

I did not understand his subs today.

I don't disagree, but the two main denominators with Sonny in both seasons is that he does not have Kane and he is being asked to play a game which is not his best use. Add his streaky spells (he is in the middle of one for me, missed a sitter Thursday and a pretty easy for him 1st min chance today) and he is not enjoying life (I also maintain a belief that the stuff with his Dad and the school back home has been enormously impactful...)

End of the day we just dont have the players. We’ve bought rubbish for years. Years and years. We’ve squandered money since teflon took over. Buy cheap and wonder why we don’t succeed. Pay pennies etc. its no surprise.

Its been a quarter of a century now and still folks are wondering why?

The amount of money we have spent is incredible. Yet still we are brick.

There is a common denominator….

The only thing I can say about the Werner sub is that the guy seems to twang a muscle regularly and maybe only has X mins in his legs.

We have no idea what the data is saying, and I am sure Ange has half an eye on Bournemouth.

Yes, IMO.
Injuries are going to be more frequent due to the amount of football played. You need two players per position minimum, and in positions key to a style, they have to be elite/specific to the managers needs. IMO anyway.
So we had that last year when finishing 5th and Villa had it as well when finishing 4th?
Saudi Sportswashing Machine had it the year before that when finishing top 4?
You don't need two elite players per position, very few do. If you have that you are fighting for the league.
