*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton ***

Obviously it's infuriating to have thrown away 3 points but some perspective is needed. We were 3 mins away from 3 points away to a full strength Everton side whilst we're missing our best player along with Kaboul, BAE and Parker. As long as we're still in the race for 4th when January comes about then hopefully we can add a couple of pieces and give it a real go in the 2nd half of the season.

Oh ok that makes it all better then thanks!

Given that there are 5 clubs with more money to spend than us I'd say we're doing as expected in the league table. A LOT can still happen in the second half of the season.

Andre: "Difficult to take. We didn't play well in the first half but we improved in the second and were a lot better. The two goals came against the run of play at that time. We managed to work hard to keep it at 0-0. To lose like that is hard. We have a week to prepare now. It's important as we haven't stopped for a month and it will be good to rest. We have two home games next, we have to bounce back and we have done that before"

AVB cost us the game with his inane substitutions, the players were good all of them, he tried to be too clever the taco, we lost balance and gave them the initiative, a draw would have been a fair result, taking Lennon off when they were attacking down that side all the time was just plain stupid.

Sorry, perhaps I should have went with.

SPURS ARE fudging brick, WHAT A PILE OF toss, AVB OUT, CAULKER OUT, GHALY OUT, fudging LOSERS GETTING BATTERED BY EVERTON AND THEIR fudging TOFFEE ****S JUST fudge OFF TOTTENHAM YOU BOTTLING ****ERAL brick BAGS!!!!!!.!>!1.!!! BRING BACK fudging HARRY HE'D NEVER ALLOW US TO LOSE TO EVERTON LIKE THAT!1!!!!!11!

So accepting that Everton are good team and we were competitive with them is what makes us look like losers? We are not good enough yet to play them off the park and on that point how many teams have gone to Goodison Park and done that? What did you want from us today? A full on gung-ho assault on them leaving us exposed to the counter attack? We were nearly caught a couple of times first half with the ball over our defensive line.

We restricted them to very few chances, took the lead and for a couple of individual mistakes could have walked away with 3 points. Frustrating end but not deserved in my opinion.

I get the feeling that you are still unhappy with the appointment of AVB rather than the overall performance today.

If we don't get champions league this year then it would be the 3rd time in 3 years that we haven't made it. That unfortunately comes down to the overall performance of the club as a whole from the chairman, through the manager and down to the players.

I expected us to go there and be able to pass to eachother, move for eachother and hold the ball better. I expected more chances against a team who are not better than us and have not been for several years now.
Yes we were close to winning but deep down you know as I do that it would not have been satisfying enough to win in the way we nearly did. We beat Liverpool after giving them 65% possession. For 70 minutes nobody could have enjoyed that game and I did not enjoy watching us play today.

Quite frankly I couldn't care less what you get the feeling for, I am not happy with AVB when he tries to win like this. I was happy with him after that West ham win because we actually played well and we also won. I was pleased with the changes he made at arsenal but obviously the rest was gutting to say the least.

I'm not going to say "oh well we lost to Everton, they've got a great home record" so what? We are better than them but we didn't play better than them today. Last season we had the game and lost, this we GAVE them the game and lost! We're relying on the other team to win us games, if they can score they beat us. If they cannot they don't (LIverpool).

How about you say what actually happened? None of this Oh but they're so good bollox!
Did you enjoy watching the team look impotent, I didn't so I'm saying what I think!

I never said "they're so good". I said exactly as it is ... we were 3 minutes away from a win at a full strength Everton side whilst we were missing 4 key players. It wasn't a post to make you feel better. You may well think we were impotent, but so were they for 90 minutes and it was only down to a mix up between Caulker and Lloris that they eventually scored.

If they can score more than we can, they win the game. We're doing that, yes. It's sickening, but it's been happening for the last 130 years. I'd rather wins were based on possession as well, but sadly the public has chosen this method of deciding victors.

Enjoying the game, expecting us to win because we're somehow 'better' than them (which I find to be an incredible assertion given that they have Fellaini, Mirallas, Pienaar, Jelavic, Jagielka, and Baines in their side, all of whom would give our current first-teamers a run for their money), expecting us to win playing sweeping football.....I will expect all these things when we have a squad capable of doing said things. We had one last season. This season, we are missing Modric, VdV, BAE, Parker, Kaboul, and for the Everton game among quite a few others, Bale. I expect commitment and endeavour from this side. Nothing more.

They didn't look too impotent in midfield and how can a team who have the ball given to them so easily be impotent?
They also looked like they wanted to score whereas we just hoped that we might as long as chance came along, perhaps, maybe, or maybe not!
Perhaps if we had actually gone for it the mix up may have been in their box and we're sitting on a 2 goal cushion?

We'll never know will we?

How about AVB knowing what limitations we have within the squad, he is the one that sees them in training every day, and setting us up tactically to get results? Take away some individual mistakes made so far this season and we'd fighting for the title. No matter how good a game plan, he still can't be out there with the players, telling each of them how to receive a ball and where to pass it next.

Shows that we still need a Moutinho type player to help recycle possession in these kinds of games

Nothing wrong with expecting the team to try and play football - this didn't happen today!Would have preferred to go out there and lose going toe to toe rather trying to sneak it then fail so spectacularly.
When we actually did string some passes together they were on the back foot. Why did it take us scoring for this to happen.

Maybe you're right, we're not good enough anymore but from what I have seen of Everton this season they rely very much on work rate. You give them something to think about and they are far less effective.

Don't forget, that can cut both ways ... Given it's AVB's first season I'd settle for top six tbh.

Possession was 50-50 and before their 2 goals they had 2 shots on target, both comfortably saved. Like I said, if we were impotent then so were they, not my fault you can't look at it with an objective view.

I hope we have our injured players back without too many new losses. Maybe an addition or two to the squad. Having the likes of Parker, BAE and Ade in form plus a more settled side (Dembele must stay fit) should give us a real boost.

We showed no endeavour, no ambition, no creativity, no movement off the ball, no desire to even try to get behind them.

We gave them the ball back ALL the time, we were happy to sit deep and ride our luck at times.

We got lucky with the goal, unlucky with the bar and then we fudged it all up because our defense panics.

This loss has been coming because the last three games have papered over the cracks.

Movement, accurate passing and ball retention! All lacking and any win as been down to whether we can score before the opposition.

We got away with it against Liverpool but not today.

I don't like AVB and the above is why!

One of the most colossal knee-jerks I have read in years.
Congratulations.
You must be proud.

I'm still deflated and angry over the result to be honest.

I wouldn't of given a flying fudge if we had lost 2-1 normally, honestly. I didn't care we lost 2-1 to Saudi Sportswashing Machine as I thought we were better than them and saw positives etc. But the fact we were 0-1 up away at Goodison with 1 MINUTE left plus stoppage time, our most influential player going off which I hope isn't an injury and we fudging LOSE 2-1 conceding two goals that quite easily should have been stopped from happening is just abysmal.

If we lost every game trying (and failing, given our personnel) to play entertaining football, AVB would be out on his ass and derided as the worst manager we have ever had.

Results are what count at Spurs, as of this moment, with the squad we have, in the circumstances we find ourselves in. We need to stay in contention for a top four place come January, to persuade new recruits to join us; we need to finish somewhere in the top five or six to have a chance of retaining our players; and we need to grind wins out, due in no small part to our depleted squad.

AVB has two choices; play a counter-attacking style, win games and survive until he can mould his own side, and stamp his own ideals; or play open, attractive football with a bunch of rapidly tiring players (due to the Europa League) who have rarely played with each other before this season, and inevitably take the many losses that will come with such an approach.

One will see him lose all the fans, and probably get sacked, while the other will see him keep the majority of fans onside while losing those who prefer a continuation of the devil-may-care Redknapp policy. Seems an easy choice to me.

As much as I like the guy this the reason we have not won this game. Not learning from his mistakes

The only mitigation I can offer Caulker is that on Thursday he played in front of Friedel, today he's playing in front of Lloris...concentration a tad off, better-safe-than-sorry mentality...I think Lloris should be in goal for ALL our games...
