OMT - Tottenham Hotspur vs Eintracht Frankfurt

I wouldn’t go as strong as you by saying it’s delusion to think we’ll win the tie but, like you, I’d be shocked if we made it through.

Don’t know a lot about Frankfurt but I expect us to make a game of it tonight and get beat second leg. I just have no confidence or hope in this team/manager at the moment. It’d be something if he did manage to turn this situation into a trophy but I really just can’t see it no matter how hard I try.
For pretty much a whole year any result of any game we've been involved with has been totally unpredictable.

I'd even say if we won 2 or 3 nil tonight, I'd still 100% not feel we are thru.

All options are on the table.

We havn't had a consistent team this season, and we haven't built upon any foundation. Yes we have players back, but they don't have a flow or confidence. That said, I have some faith in Ange to get the side focused and performing for this one. I think he might be a good cup manager. He has 5 games to win. One at a time.

There are concerns about our attack, without Kulu we are light, and our forwards seem a bit shy - for want of a better term. Johnson has had his critics, but at least he's not shy smashing the ball home. Poro adds a goal threat and should probably start for me. Romero playing adds much needed quality and hopefully he'll settle as will VDV - sounds like we might need his pace.

Midfield is key for me. The few times we've played well, we've worked the ball well through the middle with one touch quick moves. Maddison has been key to this and Bentancur has ability too. If we are blunt playing though the middle we are a bit predictable and easy to stop down the flanks. We have to mix it up to keep them guessing.

What we must do - and have not done all season - is take care with possession. We give the ball up too frequently and leave ourselves exposed. Yes - go for fast breaks - but only if the break is on. Otherwise value the ball. It is a hard one, as fans get frustrated when we're not changing into them and slow it down. But it just exposes us time and again. And we can't both committ men forward and lose the ball. We need more intelligence here. Players need to show some cuteness and instinct and not expose our defence as frequently.

Can you explain to me in which era of being a Spurs fan we could be 2 or 3 nil up and feel safe? Because I sure as hell can't remember one :D.....

2016-17 Prime Poch era
Obviously I was just being playful, but the scars of being a Spurs fan there was plenty of games under Poch we would be winning well and still not totally convinced we would see it through! But of course, he is the closest to non sexy we had - or perhaps the most sexy considering how good we were and still won nothing.....

Listening to The Lab with Andy Brassel and feel very optimistic about this! Come on! A blow with Odo, but fudge it. Come on!

If I was Ange I think I might be tempted to sit the players down and make them watch the recent paddy power video which , yet again, takes the tinkle out of the club and the fans - the one where they sadly inform the fans that after the international break Spurs have got to start playing matches again.....

Nothing else seems to be working so why not try a bit of Brian Clough style motivation....

COYS.

Seeems like we always need to score 3 or 4 goals to stand a chance in these two leg games. Time for something completely different, Solanke and Richie upfront for the first half. Batter them with crosses into the box and put away the rebounds. Yes I know there is as much chance of a snowball in hell and all that, but you have to have some hope. And a tin of this stuff.

I'm sure there are people who collect bus tickets used by Max Wall but the number of people who put their hand in their own pocket to watch teams they are not committed to is very small. I always tried to watch a game when I worked out of London but that was in the day when you could pay at the door in desperation I've gone to Rugby League games.
Is max wall another way of saying you're going to park the bus?
