It was difficult to get any sort of atmosphere going just because of the enormous gap between the upper and lower tier, it's literally fudging ridiculous

That along with a ridiculously long and winding walk to and from the station, I for one will never set foot in that brick hole again it was awful

the club is more patient than its fans.
unlike financial doping, doing it the right way is likely a 3-step-forwards-2 steps-back journey, and since levy took over you can't argue that despite all the setbacks, the trend is positively upwards.

I have to admit I am enjoying my afternoon in the pub listening to the Spam fans. They are SO very, very happy that they beat us it's actually quite sweet. It truly is the pinnacle of their season.
I hated losing last night but beating us means more to them than losing to them means to us.
 
Well that was the first time i have attended that stadium and its crap, how the hell anyone thought that could be a football stadium has marbles for brains. As for the game i always believed it would be our hardest one of our run it, W.Ham hate us ( as we know) and they were always going to put 110% against us. And yet all i heard in the week leading up to the game was how we were going to murder them, it was never going to happen and now we have fans going ape brick because we lost.

We did not play well and they run their socks off and because of that we lost ( and i am as sick as everyone else about that), but lets get some perspective on our situation, its not the end of the world and we have had a great season overall. We are still a work in progress and we are nearly there, Poch is doing a great job and has done well over the 3 seasons. I have read in other threads about Fergie and what he did at Utd but it took him 4 seasons before he won anything and in his third season there were banners at O/T wanting him sacked.

The players we have still mostly youngsters and until they mature and actually win something then we as fans have to TRY and be patient.

The Fergie/Utd comparison of the first great team that he built is one that has been in my mind the last couple of weeks. Our curent position reminds of it.

I still hate that we lost to that phucking shower 1-0 away for the second year in a row. But agree with the perspective of the season as a whole and the rapid organic improvements under Poch. He is the most important piece and I trust he will lead us to the Promised Land of Silverware v

Fergie transformed Utd who have always been a BIG club but had been in a relative slump before he got the job. I have family up that way and two nephews who are ST holders so i have always been kept up to date on their progress. Fergie struggled during his first couple of seasons and as i said there were lots of banners at O/T wanting him sacked, but the board get faith and the rest is history.

We are beginning to show signs that Poch is having the same influence here and we must show patience, i do believe that winning something is the next stop though.

I hate is as well, but they can have their " knees up" over last night but i believe we will emerge stronger because players who know they are good hate losing and you can see that on their faces last night. I have always believed that you have to taste bitter defeat to emerge as big winners.

I will always feel we would have missed out massivly not winning a trophy this season due to how we have played. Ultimately it was the away form that cost us. This is where u need someone with individial talent to open to door.

The likes of Townsend were impact players who run at u. Win free kicks. We need that in the team/squad. We need to find that one special player that will give us that little bit extra we need.

West Ham beat us, but they are heading downwards... their stadium is a joke, their team is weak, their manager is leaving, their board is laughable.

Lots of teams have beaten us over the years. Teams like Grimsby and Port Vale. In fact nearly every team has beaten Spurs over the years.

But right now we are second, on an upward trajectory.

I was born in 76

United were not a big club to me until fergie came in ( I was a kid)

It was pool and Everton and us, with Arsenal coming on later on my youth and then United of course

I was there and in among the "Happy Hammers" (they didn't seem that happy for most of the game) and found the experience unnerving on a number of levels. The acoustics are awful so that even though you could see activity in other parts of the ground you could barely make it out. You are a long way from the action, and I was in the third row!

As to the game itself, from my perspective, we seemed in control until we let the goal in. Maybe it will look difference when I view it on TV, but the crowd in my section was silent early in the second half. That included two or three sub--humans in my vicinity who wanted to ritually disembowel Walker. Its the second time in two seasons that I have sat in enemy territory and it certainly opens your eyes to how our team is perceived by others (clue -- they don't like us). I have also delivered two Oscar worthy performances when we have conceded. I'm not proud that I haven't displayed my true colours and taken them all on but I did covertly hold them in contempt!

They have been a big club ever since Munich tragedy when they became well known and a household name , they won a couple of Lge titles during the 60's as well as the Europen Cup. they had the likes of Best, Law , Charlton during the 60's who were players known all around Europe.

They had that early/mid 70's slump when they went to the second division but since then have always been there or there abouts.

One thing I have thought about with regards to next weekend is how the pressure to win X amount in a row and keep up with the forever-winning chelski night well be off. It will leave us with two main missions.
1) to respond to the disappointment - Poch will make sure we do
2) to say goodbye to her in style.

I think we will achieve both. This side will not enjoy some of the utter flimflam I've heard thrown their way these past 48 hours, and thus I believe they will answer and then some.

It's pretty good going being left with schadenfruede and a not fit for purpose stadium..........f.ck knows what Levy if up too, he must have taken a wrong turn somewhere.

I'm sure Brady can set him on the right path:)

My mate said he actually felt a little sorry for the spammers, as that place is such a ridiculously anti-football. He was saying that the whole thing would be soul-destroying to have to go to every other week and refer to as 'home'...
