*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v West Bromwich Albion ***

Given we've had a tough trip to Belgrade, and WBA have a pretty much full squad to choose from, I'll be very surprised if it's not a tough game. I'd take a 1-0 now, and strongly doubt we'll win by more than two. If we can win this and the Forest game, then we'll have had a very good start to the season, but it's a big IF.

How many of the players who featured on Thursday do you expect to play on Sunday?

Wouldn't mind seeing Fazio start, apart from the one mistake from the long throw against Partizan I thought he looked excellent. Our central defenders have ranged from shaky to average so far this summer so might be the time to just trust in the new guy.

Less of a need to keep Stambouli in there with Capoue, Dembele and Bentaleb all performing well so far.

Ben Davies really didn't cover himself in glory against Partizan, think he needs more time to settle in and Rose quite easily keeps his place.

Thought Naughton (again) looked alright against Partizan, coin toss between him and Dier for the right back spot for me. Expecting Poch to go for the younger player in Dier.

Front four picks itself.

Good chance for a good game with our slightly more settled team at home against what seems to be a fairly average at best WBA side.

If anybody fancies going tomorrow, there are loads of bargains on stubhub, the home of legalised touting...

About 3 or 4, and maybe 5 or 6 in total of those who travelled. For none of those is it ideal preparation, compared to WBA who have had a full week's rest. Hence my belief that the EL game will be a factor, making the match a close affair.

None of the outfield players that started against Sunderland started against Partizan.

None of the front four that started against Partizan will start against WBA it seems. Probably none of the front 6 will start unless Bentaleb (possible) or Stambouli (seems unlikely) keep their place. Both full backs will probably be changed.

Hugo will keep his place and possibly one or two of the centre backs. Typically positions that don't require as much high intensity running.

The difference from last season when AVB brought almost unchanged teams to EL games is massive. Sure traveling to Belgrade isn't an ideal preparation, but it shouldn't be the end of the world either.

Looks like West Brom didn't take anything close to their allocation for this game - Load of tickets in the corner below the away end are available on the OS. Snapped up one myself just now so looking forward to the match a lot.

I would play:

------------------- Lloris ---------------------

--- Dier --- Fazio -- Vertonghen -- Rose --

---------- Capoue --- Dembele ------------

----- Lamela -- Eriksen -- Chadli ----------

-------------- BAD ADE ---------------------

Sure Fazio & Verts played in Europe, but IMO this will be our first choice CB pairing and I want them to start getting games together to build their partnership.

3-0 Spurs - Ade, Lamela (x2)

They always give us a good game. Even when we beat them, it's usually a tight 1-0 or 2-1. I see no reason why this will change tomorrow so I will go for a narrow 1-0 win as I think I'm right in saying our record after Europa League games is pretty so so.

Well, we'll see what happens. I expect 3 or 4 of those who featured against Partizan to start against WBA and 5/6 of those who travelled, and I expect that to have a negative impact on our performance. Thus I expect a close game, and I'd take 1-0 now no danger.

They still travelled to the game. Even travelling first class does take something out of you.

That's pretty much exactly what I said...

I will always take a win.

I think the impact from traveling, and playing, that EL game shouldn't come close to overcoming the advantage in ability we have at home against an out of form WBA side. It matters, but it also matters that we have at least 15 players in our squad that would get into their starting line-up (poor paraphrase from the "other lot" thread, but at most a slight exaggeration).

If we fail to win the EL game might be used as one small factor out of many influencing the game, but it's certainly not a valid excuse or on it's own a reason why this game should be close.

We'll scrape this 2-1. Gift them a goal, equalise with a bit of skill from Lamela setting it up on a plate for Ade, and then nick it late in the second half with a Kane winner.

---------------------------Lloris--------------------------

Dier-------------Fazio---------------Verts---------Rose

----------------Capoue------------Dembele-------------

Lamela-------------------Eriksen------------------Chadli

----------------------------Ade---------------------------

Subs: Vorm, Kaboul, Davies, Stambouli, Bentaleb, Townsend, Kane

I was at the game last season against this lot when TS was in charge and it was awful to watch.

Hoping it is different and think we can win this.

Mostly I am excited about seeing Dembele play under a coach like Poch. He looked awesome last week and I really believe we will see the best of his ability this season.

COYS

We really have struggled to beat the baggies at home over the years, so a little surprised by the brashness of some...don't think we should feel sorry for ourselves just because we had to travel to Belgrade...oh were tired, the pitch was crap, its not ideal preparation.

At the end of the day I think we have more quality than the baggies, as long as we go out with the right attitude and attack them at speed then I believe we will have to much for them, that said we have huffed & puffed against them at whl in recent times.

I predict Lamela to shine, I think we will win 3-1 might even put a bet on!

oh and stop stressing, if going into a cauldron of hate, playing on a pitch resembling the Somme 1917 doesn't turn our boys into men then nothing will! experiences like thursday build character and cojones!

2012/13 - 1-1
2013/14 - 1-1

I'm with you Nigey, I don't know why people are so cavalier. They always give us a good game. I think we will win but narrowly.

if this is anything but a comfortable win, i'll leave this forum.

this is one of the most guaranteed wins of the season.
