I think Poch is trying to manage resources by rotating. The problem is Eriksen. But also Winks' form has also dropped through the floor. Ndombele cannot play every game. We have to find a solution.

I genuinely think it's Ndombele's lack of defensive discipline that cost him his place today. If we were setting up to defend, he tends to stroll or let his mind wander. He was excellent when he came on though.

I think Eriksen started over Moura because we lacked creativity against Watford and Poch still mistakenly believes Eriksen gives a brick.

Lucas has never tracked back in his entire life.
Even Poch who sees that Eriksen wants out would rather risk Eriksen there to do a defensive job than Lucas Moura.

Ok, so a player signed on deadline day wasn't thrown in straight away? Not really a questionable decision - when we've signed players good enough for the starting XI previous they've generally been involved early on, Son and Alderweireld being the two last such signings. Ndombele and Lo Celso have picked up injuries in the opening few weeks of the season but signs are they'll follow suit.
That is the managers prerogative sure. But we started with the Eriksen indecision and he had a potentially quality replacement who he decided not to use. It seems a strange decision to me and one he is suffering for.

It's what Eriksen did that made him worse than Alli. Time and again, Robertson strolled past him and even when Eriksen did actually recover, his attempts at defending didn't even reach pitiful. It wasn't a complicated or unpredictable tactic yet Eriksen looked like a rabbit in the headlights every time.
You can say that but in that example Eriksen semi tried. Ali didn't even do that. Eriksen was visibly poor in the defensive phase, Ali was invisible.

I think that's an opinion formed in hindsight - he was late back to pre season training as he was at the Copa America with Argentina don't forget so it really wasn't anything out of the ordinary that he wasn't involved in the first few games, if anything it was to be expected.

:)
Thing is, a bit of fine tuning in Poch's mindset and he would have much more success but he doesn't seem capable. Still want to be proved wrong but after 6 seasons I can't see him changing unfortunately for him and us.
True this. Some managers learn from their mistakes. Seems poch can't unfortunately and time for him to let someone else take over the reigns. If he had any dignity he'd resign now but he will take us to the lows of the lows before he goes. Hey, that rhymes.

Not hindsight. Poch has a tendency to introduce new signings over a over prolonged period. I said it at the time that I wanted to see him start earlier. I wasn't the only one who said it at the time. He also could have come back sooner from his holiday if we had desired.

It's also not really hindsight when we knew Eriksen wasn't going to sign a new contract and we didn't even start him in the first game of the season. So there was an understanding from Poch that he didn't to follow an alternative path yet the guy he brought in he left unused. You may say that's nothing to do with the issue, but if you don't try your new options can you be surprised when your reoccurring issues reoccur?

Rose, Eriksen, Dele aside there were some notable performances

Sissoko, N'Dombele, Son were decent

Son's miss was a real sliding doors moment

Anthony Taylor was my bug bear, terrible ref, bottled everything apart from the dodgy pen for them

If Lamela had been available he’d have started. Poch must be protecting him against aggravating injuries...

Sissoko did have a very decent game and I don't rate him at all.

Ndombele or Son for Motm for MOI.

So you rotate your better players against weaker opposition?
Also he was happy to flog the same first X1 almost every game when he first came on the scene, which might explain why a few of them can’t move anymore.

You just cannot help yourself can you? Honestly, if I worked at Talksport I’d be getting them to hire you.
