+++ OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Sunderland 12th April 2026 +++

I've always had hope before but today really made me feel we're 90% down. New managers, time to prepare, away which is where we tend to play better, against a team who are OK but not great and in poor form at home. Thought we'd pick something up, there was plenty of effort and I didn't see anyone giving up but there's just a severe lack of quality.

I'll be 99% certain we're down if we lose to Brighton.

None of our players are in form though* so we fudged either way

*unless we look at our performances over the past 2 years and deduce that the players are just playing at their level
Yeah, totally agree mate, we are f*cked whatever we do IMO. We needed decisive action to bring in a new direction and manager that would instill a bit of confidence and drive in the players and quite a few bodies in January. We didn't get the reset necessary and have left things far too late. We are relying on the gods at this point.

“If you play badly for two years, is your form poor, or are you s hite?” (Confucius).

And buying nobody in summer or jan

And buying badly, and cheaply, for years.

Yeah when that deflected goal went in that was the gods, they've already decided and we're cooked.

Ok, the positives -
Sunderland have one of the best defenses in the Lge; we did create a few very good chances, mainly fell to Richi.

We only conceded once, to a freak goal.

Even when we conceded, we didn't fall apart.

These are all steps forward.

We were in the game. Lost to a deflection.

The issue since the very first game is our attack. Frank made a fist of it, but ran out of ammo. Kudus out and selling Johnson without a replacement were the final nails in the coffin.

Where are the goals coming from? We need luck to score these days. At least under Frank we were seeing Xavi starting to run games and we had some patterns in attack.

Kulu, Madders, Odobert, Kudus all MIA. Where are the goals going to come from?
We had no patterns in attack at all. We slung in crosses to no one or launched long balls both in the hope of getting corners (which were pretty much our only way of scoring goals). It was some of the most abject attacking football I have seen from any Spurs team (and I’ve seen a lot of bad Spurs teams over the years).

I saw it differently, yes their goal was lucky but after that they had the total freedom of our left hand side. Several times you could see how bad our marking was, there was one cross where they had 3 men unmarked at the back post - fortunately it didn't quite reach them but shows how poorly organised at the back we are.

Given how bad we are at the back we'll likely need to score 2 or 3 to win a game and we don't look like doing that.

Yes that’s where I am now. Maybe I was pitting too much on the new manager bounce and what we were reading on social media. Nothing today made me think we have what it takes but Sunderland away was always going to be difficult so let’s see how we do against Brighton and Wolves - both truly must win games.

If we are to go down, I’d rather it was like that than having Chelsea send us down or it happening on the last day.

The worst thing is watching the car crash unfold slowly. If it’s to happen, I’d rather it was as quick as possible.
If we are to be relegated then let it happen at any game other than Chelsea. Shirley the footballing ghods can give us that much of nothing else.h

If were to go down would you prefer Chelsea to send us down but Arsenal win nothing or Arsenal win the league and anyone but Chelsea sends us down?

😭

To paraphrase Norm Peterson, the footballing gods treat us like a baby treats a diaper. If we go down, it’s gonna be Chelsea.
