Watch it back yourself, he looks around he sees Salah. When the pass is played he jumps forward to play him offside and Salah would have been off if Romero wasn't the deepest player defender. The rest of the line was in line with Royal. Now I agree that Royal having seen where Romero is should not have attempted to play offside but that's what happened, not him not knowing Salah was there.

He looked at Salah when they first entered the box and didn't look again until the ball floated over his head.
Salah could've been in line with Royal for all he knew.

He looks around he sees him, he scans a second time and then tries to play offside. Watch it yourself and don't listen to what the numpty Neville says. When they showed the reply you see him look twice and see him very blatantly incorrectly try to play Salah offside.

I have no issue criticising the defending but let's be accurate about the mistake. The problem was our line, not him not apparently not knowing Salah was there.

There's at least 5 seconds that he doesn't look at him.
 
Postecoglu doesn't defend the far post . We've seen it from early in the season. He has his wingback on the far post and blind to whoever is behind.
 
I love Ange, but I’m hating this end of the season slump. Two years in a row I’d love the season to be over.

Sure, but he tries to play offside and he judged Salah correctly, what he inexplicably didn't notice was that Romero was deeper than the rest of the line and this Salah would be played onside.

Again I have no issue criticising the decision to attempt to play him off but let's not be swayed by Neville:s incorrect reading of what actually happened. He didn't even notice Royal tried to pay him offside.

If you don't look at a player for 5 secs you don't know where they are and can't play them offside.
