*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Hull City, Sunday 27th October***

We will win 2-0 and people will complain.

I think some people would rather we lose 3-4 or 4-5 than win 1-0 or 2-1. I think they are still living in the old days when you can play entertaining football and still win the matches. Don't think you can have both of those nowdays.

But must say, I enjoyed watching us play more when we used to be a mid table team with no aim. Then you could just enjoy watching us play even when we lose as long as we score goals. But we have raised the bar so high over the last few years that it is always full of nervous and tension from start to finish nowdays. Don't think can really enjoy our match now unless we take a 5-0 lead within the first 5 mins.

Spot on.

Even at 2-0 last week at Villa I was still looking at the clock counting down the minutes to the whistle. I dont seem to be able to relax until we get 3 goals in front

Was AVB right to take so many first teamers to Sherrif?

Will he get the team selection and tactics right against Hull?

Will the team look fresh, up for it and provide a good performance?

Will we avoid the Wet Spam debacle and get the required result?

So many questions- guess we will have the answers soon.

This isn't the Hong Kong Phooey intro, weirdo...

Now I am beginning to think it is a big mistake selling Huddlestone. I think we sold Hudd with the hope players like Eriksen and Lamela will make an impact straight away. Instead the new players are still taking time to settle in. This means we are now lacking an established and experienced player in midfield causing us to lack in creativity in attack.

Hudd would not be competing with Pamela or Eriksen for a place and there is no way that he would displace Sandro, Paulinho, Dembele or Capoue. I liked Judd but it is best for all concerned that he left.

Hudd offered something that neither those aforementioned four offered - super creative passing. Im not impressed by the passing of those four. We dont switch play etc quick enough and perhaps thats the issue as to why our wide play has deteriorated. Before we had Modric to do that.

Good post man. Every game has something riding on it these days.

I still think we play entertaining football... well to me at least. Keeping the ball, dominating the game and not letting the opposition near our goal often, punctuated by bursts of incisive, rapid attacks (when at our best) is entertaining to me. I guess when we're not playing with enough tempo I can see why it's not conventionally entertaining, especially compared to how we played at our best under 'Arry's side, but this is a very effective style of football nonetheless.

A question to those who become so furious every time AVB takes any first teamers to the Europa league. If we do get into the CL, what exactly are we going to do? If we can't handle 3 first teamers actually appearing and another 3 or 4 travelling against inferior opposition (cos the teams in our group are ****), what are we going to do when we have to play a full team on Tuesday/ Wednesday and then again on Saturday because each game is too important to make wholesale changes?

I agree with that. I think Hudd would have been a good option to have in the squad. I thought he did well he came back into the side at the end of last season.

I hope we will give him a good reception at least. He deserves that.

I thought he did well but he ha to leave as he needed and desired first team football - he will get that at Hull.

I personally would rather have Tom in the squad than Dembele, Dembele is a better winner of the ball but when fully fit Huddlestone can retain possession just as well, as for creativity Dembele is a no no, I do like Dembele but with Sandro, Pauline and Capoue available I would prefer Tom as the fourth option, at least he passes forward which is something that seems behond Dembele.

Like I said, I like Hudd but AVB seems to prefer having two mobile central midfielders sitting and covering for the fullbacks. That would not have played to Hudd's strengths and I do not think that he would've got the game time to recover his form.

I hope it goes well for him at Hull. I'd love to see him in the England world cup squad.

Disagree, Hudd's long range (Hollywood pass) was probably better, but you do that once or twice a game? we have enough good passers (and we have already seen goals from excellent passing) in the team.

Yes, our player have to release the pass/move the ball quicker some times, but I truly believe that is just about settling in, knowing where your teammate is making the run. You mention wide play, but that's the area we have had the most personnel changes and you probably still can't be certain who will play left and right against Hull.

Hudd had promise, didn't fulfill it and we have better defensive, better creative, faster players than him. Wish him all the best, but no regrets.

my team for Hull:

---------lloris
walker--dawson--chiriches--vert
--------sandro--paulinho
-townsend---holtby-----sig
----------soldado

Hopefully give Rose a run-out in the league cup on Tuesday. Don't rush him though.

That's exactly what it is , efficient and effective. I can't say that I enjoy it massively though, still I guess I prefer winning effectively than losing stylishly.

Hmmm, will Sandro start this one?

3 games in a week? It IS a squad game afterall. Dembele and Paulinho more than capable at home.
