***OMT - Tottenham Hotspur v Chelsea, Tue May 19th, 8.15pm, Stamford Bridge ***

I'm a little confused with the reaction here - yesterday went better than what I had expected and on balance we deserved at least a point. It was better than the Wolves, Sunderland and Leeds performances and wasn't much different to the Brighton game. We should be going in to the Everton game now confident of doing what is required.

This. I expected nothing from last night because it's Chelsea and those are the rules. But we were unfortunate to not get a point on chances created. Fine margins as usual, Madders not getting the shot off, the "ball not in play" non penalty. It was always gonna go to the final game as we never get things easy. I think we will do enough on Sunday but it will tight and stressful right until the full time whistle blows.

It was a bad pass from RKM but it was hardly a through ball directly into a 1 on 1 with the keeper. There was time to recover, we just weren't able to.
I agree we should have done better but we had no shape because of the easy we lost the ball... Chelsea were out through down the middle - it was Chelsea in control of the whole situation at that point unless we could out number them and get control again. That pass was so bad it took out our entire midfield and a full back. It was a great through ball.

It would have been the best attacking pass we've seen a tottenham player make all season if it were to our own players 😂

Understood. There’s an element of self-preservation in my negativity. And some superstition thrown in for good measure.

The thing with that pass is that if it was the other way around I have my doubts that we would have been able to make it such a clean cut chance in the first place let alone score from it. Could you imagine Richy or Muani latching on to that loose ball and doing something decisive with it? That goal just reminds me of our own inadequacies in attack. 😬

Chelsea were on a dreadful run of form, hadn’t won at home for months and had just been beaten in a cup final a few days prior. If you judge last night against the historical norm, there’s nothing to be disappointed about. If you judge the game on its own merits, it’s really disappointing.

It was a great chance to put our relegation fears to bed and we blew it which means we’ll start Sunday (and probably spend a good chunk of it) never being more than 2 kicks of a ball from relegation.

I think it's due to the boom busy cycle. We beat Villa and and did decently against Leeds and Wolves and now a lot of people expectations had reset again to being a topish side. Then yesterday happens and despite functioning as a team reasonably well the general lack of quality was clear and brightly shone so that brought them back down to earth with a bump.

For people like yourself and I well we've accepted a long time ago that we are pish so a result or performance like yesterday holds no surprises for us. It's what we expect so no extra sadness is needed.

The second the seasons done. (assuming we stay up) we need to put a bid in for Fernandes and Bowen from the spammers
