But all managers say the players need to be fitter when they join
Correct. Rule Number 1 in the coaching manual. Gives you an out as a manager for the first few games.

I don't really subscribe to the theory of media conspiracies but am I the only one who thinks this is a f**king dreadful headline?
Exactly. 99% of 'media' has sunk to the lowest common dominator flimflam anyway...so why let it concern you?Makes fans of other teams giggle and us fuming - engaging everyone! It’s the perfect headline, really! Who cares what some journalist writes anyway.

Compare that take on our win v Atlético Madrid to this one on forest getting taken to extra time and penalties over 2 legs of football by some Danish side, again from the BBC..

Famous night for Nottingham Forest in a season to otherwise forget
Nottingham Forest are fighting for Premier League survival but reaching the Europa League quarter-finals could provide hope in an otherwise torrid season.www.bbc.com

Or does that caveat just apply to Ange?
Fair enough, I looked at that result and thought wow that’s pretty poor and from a Spurs point of view I was delighted they were taken to extra time and pens. Similarly I was happy with the performance, result and outcome vs Atletico on Wednesday. The reporting doesn’t really chime in to my feelings as a Spurs fan on this weeks events, but that’s fine. Not sure it matters TBH, they went through, we were eliminated, of all the Media manipulation of which I know there is some, this isn't it
