Yep the wage bill also must have took a big hit. Personally i think Pav was a big miss and Gomes had one very good season and the rest poor/average so he's in the ok category.

Point being Ramos (or Comolli or whoever is in charge of spending at that time) blew our money big time that season.

Agree with this. Got handed what, 52 mill from losing Keane and Berba, and we simply did not manage to get the necessary quality to maintain...I personally believe Bentley was a Comolli signing (I say that with no knowledge, just guessing as he is partial to young over-priced Englishman aka Henderson and Downing)...but this did not help us.

I thought he gave us a bit of drive and pressed well up the left and gave us a natural left footed crossing angles from that side of the pitch. Utd had closed any space for bale to get in, so it was an important sub.

Also thought he added a bit of presence to the team.

I love Benny and he does give us natural width because he's a lefty playing on the left and stays left , but today he was poor defensively and it could have cost us. But hey, it didn't and he was involved in the goal so there you go.

Walker wasn't great today either but he's a had a few good performances recently so this was I hope just an off game for him. Having Benny back also allows us to give Walker a much needed break.

Most people will have shot where Lennon passed - Lennon is just orgasmic and love him

Funnily enough he should have done that when he shot weakly in the first half. Dempsey was clear then too.

Great result, strong character... Could easily have been all 3. Well done Andre.

I think Utd got their tactics all wrong. The commentators even mentioned that they set up to be defensive and then break us down and hit us on the break. But because of this style they never got really going attacking wise. When they did really go at us at times we looked a bit fragile and were pulled apart by their movement.

I think they did get it wrong. But as I said before the game I didn't think they'd beat us. And all the negativity and defeatism, couldn't agree with it all. We're one of the best teams in the country at home to the best team in the country, the idea they would win easily, brush us aside, whatever, never bought into it.

I missed the end of game blurb, what happened between Redknapp and Neville?

Funny on redcafe its all about how brick bale was and how the officials cost them, nothing at all about lennon

I wonder how they would rate Van Persie. It sounds stupid to say but despite the goal what did he do all game. And Clints celebration was a lot better than his stick his tongue out and twirl aswell.

I wonder if Levy can get Joe Lewis to actually release some funds? We have one of the richer owners in the Prem who has not actually put a real penny in. I don't want stupid spending, but right now would be the time to give Levy the dough to give to AVB...heart-breaking to think of the money frittered away by others when we had it (what on earth were Comolli and Ramos thinking with 17 mill for Bentley for example?!!!!)...

Well said. I want 'stupid spending' that wins the title and the CL, but we won't get that. But I'd settle for another striker, midfielder and a LB.

Neville knows that Jamie is clueless and Jamie knows that Gary knows.

I did think Neville was wrong about Man Utd giving the perfect performance. We had some very good chances and should have won by a few, whereas they just sat back and hardly done anything

I don't know how they rate RVP, but I rate him the best player in the country. He got Arsenal above us last season, and is the key reason why United will win the title this season.

Plastic Man Utd helmet on FB - goals win games.fact. ur players must be really brick with that amount of possesion and cant win a game.

Me - Hahahahahahaha bitter much, I do agree about the chances though to be fair Da Gaer had a cracking game though, if we had RVP we would win the league, if you didnt have him you would be 10th, 1 man team as bad as Arsenal last year

Plastic Manc - if if if if if if if if if.....thats why top clubs buy top players.United tore you to shreads in the first half, you must have thanked your lucky stars that our final ball hadnt been better. We even rester Rooney,Nani and Valenica to give you a chance FFS

Me - and you had 39% possession and 4 attempts how exactly did you rip us to shreds hahaha, that the funniest thing ive read for a long time...

For the last few years we have been fantastic at home but this season our best performances have generally been away from home. We have been lucky recently against Reading and Liverpool for example. I think most neutrals would have Utd as favourites to win never mind our fans.
