+ OMT - Spurs vs Man Utd +

I've got a bit of a sick feeling in my stomach that we're going to get smashed in this one. Even worse feeling that RVP is going to get a few.

So hopefully we win 4-0.

edit - also, banking on Parker having an absolute stormer for us in the middle. He'll be so up for this game.

Will BAE play this one? Would he be better up against Nani or Valencia than Naughton? Would Naughton be better against a right-sider who doesn't just hug the touchline and maybe left-footer BAE be beter against Valencia?

Also, why didn't BAE play against QPR? Was he being saved for this game??

Ah yes, I remember that game, I though Ramos showed some real tactical/coaching nous in this game.

Murmon, do you worry about United breaching us via more 'mundane' means; i.e. set-pieces? We haven't conceded many recently, but when we have set-pieces seem to be the way teams have got past us. I could see United targetting us in that way (GHod knows how many recent goals we've conceded to them from headers...grrrr..)

Man Utd look to have been very good at set pieces this season. It wouldn't surprise me if they have scored more goals from set pieces than any other team so far this season, so it does worry me which is why I feel we will miss Sandro, but Dawson will be vital.

Gary Lineker gives the shock stat that Stoke have scored more goals from set pieces than any other team so far this season, Swansea the least.

Edit: Last United game RVP scores and put in a deadly set piece cross for the other goal. RVP has put in a few of those this season.

What the fudge? I didn't realise he handballed it.

I thought Gomes was just being typical Gomes and putting the ball down like an idiot. But damn, anyone there would have thoguht that was a free kick, he almost fudging picked the ball up ffs. Crazy refereeing decision.

fergie's response was that ref played it on and gomes "made a mess of it"....needless to say the entire media was on that fergie led bandwagon and gomes was literally getting his head kicked in over and over again!

United’s ticket allocation for this weekend’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur will remain reduced – after GMP reported bad behaviour of Reds to police counterparts in London.

United travel to White Hart Lane on Sunday and will be followed by 1,800 fans – 800 fewer than most other visiting clubs.

That reduction will be kept in place for the fourth season in a row after trouble at recent away matches led to the force writing to their colleagues in the capital.

Spurs had been considering handing over the full allocation following good behaviour by United fans at last season’s match.

But documents obtained under Freedom of Information laws show that Haringey council, in conjunction with Tottenham, decided to keep the restrictions in place.

They had contemplated handing over the full allocation of 2,600 if the Reds sent 12 of their own stewards and letters to fans warning them to behave when the issue was first raised.

But at a later meeting it was noted that some sections of United’s support had thrown bottles onto the field of play, set off flares and persistently stood in upper tiers at matches away from Old Trafford.

The documents, obtained by fans’ website Reds Away, also show that police reports from Reds trips to Chelsea and Saudi Sportswashing Machine were ‘not favourable’.

And it also emerged that GMP were so concerned by behaviour of some supporters that they wrote to the Metropolitan Police to tell them that they had been causing problems.

An email from Norwich City’s safety officer condemning the actions of some Reds fans was also read at the meeting and the decision was taken not to increase the allocation.

Reds Away editor Dale Haslam believes the details he obtained can be used to United’s benefit.

He said: “It is disappointing United fans missed an opportunity to increase our allocation, but I fully understand that clubs and councils have to put safety first, as they are the ones held responsible if things go wrong.

“Now United fans’ groups such as MUST and IMUSA can set about looking at ways of addressing the safety issues.

“But ultimately, it’s up to our fans. Whether they choose to behave is up to them.”

The past week the Met Office app on my phone and tablet has been bang on with timings and amount of snowfall

Good stuff, and as I say their forecast re the Spurs game has been pretty much the same as the BBC. I must say though I prefer the Met's forecasts as they specifically name us in their forecast locations :)

My guess would be that BAE wasn't deemed quite fit enough for QPR and Naughton deserved another chance anyway.

I hope Naughton keeps his place as I don't trust BAE with our high line.

We'll miss Sandro's presence at defending set pieces but we'll probably miss Adebayor more in that dept, he puts in a lot of good work there.

It's crucial Daws and JV play, and there's an argument for Caulker playing as well.

I don't know about Dempsey as a set piece defender, but I think I'll know a bit more after today.

i'm counting on bale, lennon and defoe to show up today. they know what's at stake. they know what's it about. and they know we need to outscore man u to win this one.

I'm actually hoping that the game gets called off for selfish reasons. I'm too ill to be able to go, even though I want to drag myself there and defy doctors orders!

Mate is in Brighton and has said its bucketing down, he isnt going to risk it as also his train service is pretty hit and miss today

I feel there will be a few empty seats at the Lane today

Were not leaving until 12.30pm, its meant to be really heavy from 12pm but are playing it by ear
