Well Gray has a lovely run in the championship last season, in some respects it can be tougher than the PL, maybe not as quick though.

The Swedish league is not even to that standard. No offence Sweden.

So I expect the English lads to have a head start.

I don't even think it is that much of a divide tbh. It's just smoothing down a few edges really
 
I felt for most of the game that we didn't get out of 2nd gear. Whether that was the opponent or us I don't know, but the important thing is that it was enough to get us the win. It's so great to win with our youngsters, something that we have failed to do so many times in the past. Pool, City, Arse, et al would always manage it, whereas if we didn't have our first XI we'd be flailing, even in the easier games. This has to be not only about quality, but also about a more determined mentality and belief in the way we play.

Fully agreed. We were able to rest Johnson, Solanke, Maddison, Bentancur and VdV as well as Son and Udogie being injury/rested at home. With Richarlison and Odobert injured, Dragusin suspended. Some shuffling is to be expected.

We started 4 teenagers including a 17 year old and two 18 year olds. We gave a debut to Lankshear. And still we got a decent performance and a solid result.

We saw on Sunday United had a 24 year old Uruguayan international struggle to come to terms with a new team and competition, Bergvall still looked confident and didn't disappear,

I understand that it's not a criticism of him, he didn't have a good game but he didn't hide and still backed himself to pass and tackle, that's what I like to see no fear. I prefer to see players expressing themselves rather than passing backwards or hiding.

But they need to complete their passes
That’s the key in this kind of football
He will get there and be brilliant

Definitely. I think that was some of the "criticism" of him in a recent game for Sweden, that what he tried didn't come off...

That's all fine for a young player like him. And it's great that he kept trying and didn't hide in his shell.

He'll have better games again soon enough. But perhaps slightly less of an obvious option from the bench in the league if we need a goal than if what he had tried worked out more. For now.
 
It looked to me that bergvall got a lot more of the ball than lankshear. different positions i know but bergvall finds space easily, and that's a good thing for him.

Lankshear, however, looked to me short of match fitness and too often "nearly there"

It doesn't make sense to compare the two, since they play in positions that have quite a variance in terms of how often they get the ball. Lankshear's game is all about getting into good positions and that he did. The header from a cross early in the game that came off his shoulder, his shot from a corner that went slightly above the bar, his one-on-one from Bissouma's pass (I think it was Biss) where he got tackled from behind at the last minute were all good examples of this. On another day he scores one or two of these and we are creaming ourselves that he's the second coming of Harry Kane. The kid had 100% pass accuracy and created one chance in his first ever competitive match for Spurs in a position that is very difficult to play and sees little of the ball. Let's cut him some slack.

All the kids deserve some slack

Gray, Bergvall, Moore, Lankshear, oldest one there is 18, started a European away game against a team that almost never loses at home, and we won. They not only gave the senior team rotation, allowed injured players more recovery but gave us the result, they deserve nothing but praise.

I remember when rotating with "senior" players on the bench in a game like this would equal automatic loss.

because all players need to know how to get ahead to find space to receive the ball regardless of the role
and bergvall was having a bad game but still getting involved
