I've liked how our boys are looking to hit it forward ASAP. We saw a glimpse of it in training, but in the match Davies has demonstrated exactly what we have lacked. The moment the ball is won, Davies has hit it down the channel with conviction and got us going before half the West Ham team have turned around.
This. No passing back to the keeper at the drop of a hat. Keep the opposition under pressure at all times. Better chances of forcing errors this way than trying to pull them out of shape by passing the ball 723 times in your own half.

What is good so far - it's not about one person for creativity (Eriksen) or goals (Kane).
It about two units - solid and organised defence as soon as they cross the half way line.
A sensibly creative forward line.
With the midfield supporting either function.

That is change from alot of modern football where midfield has become the driving force, instead of the support act.

Early days of course, against a terrible team (albeit one who are above us in the table). But it's a good start.

Lots of unhappy people around me :D

Not really one for the purists. Didn’t think we looked that good up until last 10-15 minutes but definitely seemed to have more drive than we’ve seen for a while.
Then something seemed to click.
Think we’ve got our Dele back.

Now let’s not mess it up.

How has the overall performance been? Sounds promising according to what I heard on the radio.

I've been unable to watch the first half, but I'll try have a look at the second... COYS!

Better intensity from all the boys. Alli playing the false 9 in the hole, and doing so very well, getting on the ball and doing something useful to it time and again. We look tighter in Central mid with Dier and winks keeping it together. In general we just look way more dangerous when we got the ball in and around the box. Very positive. Every player battling 100% for every ball.

If Dele plays like this in the second half then a lot of the initial
talk will be about him and Jose's immediate impact.
Unsure quite how true that will be but something looks like it's beginning to happen

Also liked seeing Gaza playing it out quickly after one of their few half chances. In the past we’d have held on and allowed the opposition to regroup.

The big thing was how calm we looked out of possession. Everyone knowing their role, dropping off if necessary. Then clear roles for each player. Front 3 to push forward and play on the shoulder, Dele to use the space. Davies to stay back, Aurier free to get forward.

Still a long way to go. Dont like Antonio coming on, he tends to do well against us. We need to score next, or just dont concede full stop

Solid lead, looking absolutely deadly on the counter-attack. Son and Lucas out wide with Dele given space to roam was perfect as a first-half set-up, and may well see us through the second half.

Impetus is on Spam to attack, and they will. Question now is whether we will weather the storm - an early goal conceded may bring back some nerves, and a 12-month losing streak doesn't go away that quickly.

The test for Mourinho is here, in how he manages this second half. If he shuts up shop and grinds out a win, it will have proven that we can do that - if we concede two or more goals and crumble, his start will be massively undermined.

The ideal, which 'new Mourinho' seems to want, is to score more goals while staying tight. Which the counter-attacking system should allow for. 3-0? 4-0?

That should be the 'ideal'. Whether we get it in his first game is an open question, but any outcome from here is significant (unlike if we were drawing at half-time, or massively leading, or massively losing - none of which can tell us as much about Mourinho's intentions as leading 1-0 or 2-0).

They probably mentioned it on the radio but a lot more direct. They’re obviously “first game” up for it but looking good. Strong in defence.

Amazing, thanks guys.

The click was us realising they don't have a keeper
