Check out the debut trailer of Dishonoured!! Looks like it could be a suprise big hitter... Made by Bethesda Softworks. Would post the trailer but im on my phone

Trailer does look really good, but Bethesda have been pretty ropey lately, Brink, Rage and Hunted were all poor. Skyrim was great but not without it's technical issues

A Super Mario Summary is Johan Peitz's entry to the 23rd installment of the Ludum Dare competition, in which contestants work by themselves to create a themed game in 48 hours. "I tried to recreate every level in the original Super Mario Brothers game, but on a single screen each. The result is a puzzle platformer where you need to combine reflexes, timing, and clever thinking to succeed."

Rage was superb but too short... And that was more of an id creation really. Agree with u on Brink tho, that was utter dog toffee.
But theres some big people working on this including the makers of Dark Messiah (a superb game on PC hugely underrated). PC Gamer tip Dishonoured as one to watch tho and if the trailers anything to go by they could be right... We'll see as it'll be released this year

Modern version of Dungeon Master. Am loving it. Was hooked on the original DM all those years ago.

Lol when i saw the words Dungeon Master i thought "great, i loved that game!!" and went on Steam to check it out. Realised i got Dungeon Master muddled up with Dungeon Keeper so wasnt what i expected... Still despite that i do remember these retro games (even remember a similar Warhammer 40k take on this with genestealers in a spacestation) and it does look brilliant.

I do like it when they do retro games in fresh new graphics, especially when it works

Is empire total war any good? It's being released on Mac os X but the date hasn't been set yet but I quite fancy getting a game like that. Really liked Rome: Total War and could do with a game on my mac, but I feel the graphics on Rome are a bit outdated

Rome is still a fantastic game even now... Especially with some of the mods available. But yeah if you enjoyed Rome then Empire is a great game. I got Empire and Napolean (also a brilliant game) in a Steam sale but havent played them much as ive been playing Shogun 2.
As with most Total War games tho if youve played one then it doesnt take long to familiarise yourself with another. So yeah id say if you enjoyed Rome and have a vague interest in the conquest of America then deffinately give Empire a go. Has some superb ship battles in it too

Have you played the Fall of the Samurai expansion? I've enjoyed it so far, especially since I've missed shelling the daylight out of my enemies with artillery. The naval battles are vastly improved, and another addition is that you can use your entire army + reinforcements in a battle all at once, so there is potential for some truly epic battles.

I would also recommend Empire. It's a rather large divergence from Rome and Medieval 2 in that the core of your armies are no longer melee units backed up by archers and a few siege units. Instead, your armies will be made up of line infantry-type units supported by cavalry and artillery (cue 1812 Overture).
Also, there was more emphasis put on naval battles in that you can actually fight them.

Yeah i downloaded the Fall of Samurai expansion but realised i hadnt really played the main game so started a campaign on that first. But as i loved the last samurai film i cant wait to play this expansion.

Theres some interesting mods for Napolean tho. Such as Zulu:Total war and a WW1 mod that both look great

Each to their own but i personally quite enjoyed the film and its subject matter which was the main selling point for me purchasing Fall of the Samurai for Shogun 2.

Back to gaming... News that S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 has been cancelled!! Not happy bout that as i love the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series!

True! But Rage, Hunted and Brink were all produced by independent developers and then sort of mass-produced by bethesda and sold on... Skyrim was developed by their in house developers. So it is a mix bag! if it is produced in-house it will be superb, if by independent developers, it could be a mix-bag

I hated Rage. Poor version of Borderlands.

No way! 2 completely different games. Rage is more compared to an open world Doom for me... Its FPS mechanics were great (what youd expect from id tho) but the plot was too vague and didnt really immerse you enough plus it was too short. Felt just as i was getting into it it was over.

Borderlands tho just felt too repetative... Didnt like the cel shaded graphics either. Its main selling point/gimmick was the huge amount of randomly generated weapons but this wasnt enought to keep me interested. Yes its a good game but other games diverted my attention and its ended up on a pile of "games i'll finish... One day"

The similarities are the post apocolyptic setting (plenty of games with that tho) and its an FPS. Borderlands has more of an RPG element to it tho.
