Dunno if anyone watched Finding Jack Charlton. Great documentary. I don't go in for celebrities much but was in tears throughout as I was when he died. Someone in the documentary said something along the lines of "where you have emotions you have memories because emotions make memories." Watching clips of Jack and our runs in Euro 88, Italia 90 and US 94 brings back incredible memories and emotions.

I said this on here when he died but it's probably difficult for a lot of posters to understand how impossible it was for an Englishman to be loved in Ireland in the 80s and early 90s. It would have been absurd to think an English World Cup winner could pull it off. Jack Charlton was and is loved in Ireland like no one else. For as long as football is played in Ireland, Jack Charlton will hold a place at the head of the top table. For as long as Ireland is a country, Jack Charlton will hold a special place in our history.

His impact went so far beyond football. He helped us grow up as a country. He brought us unbelievable memories. He was one of us. Not because we thought he was Irish. He was one of us because genuine people are genuine people regardless of where they are from. And Jack was a genuine person. Being loved as much as he is here is an incredible achievement for a bloke from the north of England.

Great documentary. Great man.

It was well worth a watch, but very sad to see the cruelty of dementia.

Didn't realise he was that estranged from his brother.

Absolutely. Really sad to see how dementia affects people. At times Jack looked a shell of himself. Frightening stuff.

There were always stories about him and Bobby not getting on. It seemed Jack was a very stubborn man. Was sad to hear him say something like "someday we'll have it out and make it up". Someday will never come now.

Yea I thought it was a great watch as well. I’m not Irish but it brought back great memories of those times.

posted this in the F1 thread, you might not be an F1 fan but would really suggest the Drive to Survive documentary, if you have watched previous sports docs you'll deffo enjoy.

I'm not a fan, but I've massively enjoyed Drive to Survive. I still don't watch the races, but I keep up with results and a bit of the gossip. :p

Crashing on Netflix and It's a Sin on HBO both highly recommended!

Am really enjoying Line of Duty
New series is awesome as always, Ted Hastings as always has some corking one liners

Finished watching Schitts Creek last night.
I wasn't too sure about it to begin with, but stuck with it and it got better and better.
It might be a bit of an acquired taste but I found it funny and well acted. I was sorry to get to the end of it.

I thought it was great too and was not sold at the outset either when my GF suggested we watched it, glad she did
