Mortimer and Whitehouse fishing show...! LOVE it. BUT I am in the middle of a huge comedy crush on Bob Mortimer (especially his impressions of Kane/Dele/Dier on his Athletico Mince podcast). And Whitehouse is a yid too.
Love them both, where can I find the podcast as I've already watched and enjoyed the fishing show?

GOT is utter gash

I’ve just watch 8:2, no spoilers, and jumped straight into this thread to heap praise on it.

It’s been two years since the last one and they have a lot to wrap up, so far it’s been two hours of joy and they’ve added some humour, which I don’t recall in previous seasons, which is really enjoyable.

I think it’s fudging great and I’m loving every minute.

It’s cool if you don’t like it though, each to their own.

After Life = really enjoyed it, quite touching and hopeful.

Jack Ryan = I liked it. Not sure about the complaints at the end as noted earlier in the thread, I thought it worked. If anything the real issue for me (and it was always so, its how its written) is that Jack Ryan is basically a 10 at everything he does. Would be nice if he had some flaws/weaknesses.

(Netflix) Wild Wild Country - documentary about guru Bhagwan (/Osho) and the town (Rajneeshpuram) they created in Oregon. Utterly mental and had never heard of it before.

Been keeping out of this thread as I was behind on GoT.

On Ryan, yes he is, but don’t forget he spent the first 10 years of adult life selling paper, I’m tinkled at him for fudging it up with Pam but at least he’s doing something more worthwhile now.

Imagine if the CIA had hired Dwight instead...

One of my favourite characters from tv for the last few years, worked and known a few just like him. Have not seen the actor in anything since either sadly.

Dont watch Game of Thrones as I am over 21 and not a virgin.

Brilliant character, I share just enough things to be unnerved every now and now then. I love The Crow too.

Line of Duty this evening.

Oof! fudging hell! What a programme this is.

I love LOD but there is part of me that feels this series is not as good as previous, the whole feel of it is different and the characters have been different from the start with each other to try and set up this tone of who we are suppose to think H is, but it just seems abit forced

I was the same about Spock, I didn't think it was a good idea but it was. I think S2 is a lot more Star Trek than the first, some stand alone episodes and more light hearted.

I got through the Expanse in a couple of weeks, well worth going with it, its not going to be the best ever but it is really good sci fi.

Did you finish Discovery? What did you think?

I liked it a lot but looking back I think I preferred the stand alone episodes over the story arc, that's to say that the red angel bits were my least favorite.

I think I am more interested in the Enterprise and crew over Discovery at this point, will rather watch that series than the next Discovery so rebooted Enterprise > rebooted Voyager - Pike was by far the best thing in the two so far. I liked Spock, the nemoy is spoke thing went when they rebooted the films (which I didn't like).

I must of liked it as I actively tried to watch the show on release, don't think I ever had a few to watch at once.

I think thats fair.

The whole red angel thing is there for them to hang the rest on isnt it?

I like how the finale basically justifies that we have never heard of Discovery in the other shows/timelines, its well done.

I like that it acts as a finale to "Discovery", Id actually be disappointed if they go for series 3 with the same crew etc (even if seeing them in the far future could be interesting)

The Enterprise and Pike in particular absolutely made it for me, and funnily that/they were the thing that seemed so wrong with the show at the end of season one!

Love Pike, Love #1, really like how they handle Spock and the set design etc for Enterprise is brilliant.

I think they should do these as anthology type shows, we have had a two season arc for Discovery, let the next season be a whole new scenario...

they are doing a 3rd set 900 years in the future- hence my Voyager thing, they are in the complete unknown - I agree it seemed a good place to end but it was never going to $$$- this is release on CBS in the US and they have their own app- they don't have a lot of content people will pay for so I see a fair few trek shows all at once.

* yes red angel was to hang the full thing on, I preferred the bits where it was incidental i.e. I preferred the time stone one over the rest of the last 4.

One thing that did bother me though - with Giorgiou killing control - did they really need to go and do the time jump?
from a plot point, yes they needed to do it due to the fact Discovery is never talked about in the later series and this is a convenient way of it happening and no one talking about it. From the point of was it necessary, I didn't actually think about it, was all of control in Layland i.e. was killing him what stopped control or the fact they took the data away.

The way it was presented was Leland was control and that was it (though they have shown control to take over other people). As soon as he was destroyed all the enemy ships just stopped didnt they? Which kind of supports that.

I suppose the only justification (other than the meta need for the closing of plot holes) was that there could have been a control copy/proxy around and it was a safety first move. Otherwise it seems like something of a break down in logic for me.

Not that I hold it against the show too much, I think it basically worked - and worked better than I would have thought, it just jarred in my mind at the time and still niggles a bit.
