I think it's kicked into gear more in episode 4. The 'action' bit of this episode was immense.

I disagree with the post earlier about Vince Vaughn aswell. He's brilliant in it imo.

Just watched that scene in ep4 and it was great, although still not as good as the equivalent in season 1.

Still not sure what to make of Vaughn, he's not appalling but the cast in s1 was so strong he does feel a bit am-dram by comparison.

I've seen it, not sure if it has the resource to follow through fully on the story idea. Wasn't sold on the execution around the bit involving the mother gone rogue and Titus Welliver was wasted

Saving Ray Donovan up to binge watch in a row in a few weeks time. First 2 series were good but it is fairly similar to the Sopranos in many ways but not as good. Still a good watch though.

True Detective has got a lot better after the poor first few episodes - setting up for a good final two episodes.

Vince Vaughn still stinking the place out though, his cha acter has become a bit more interesting though, just a shame you ge snapped out of the show whenever he's on screen

It's not a patch on season 1. The first season whilst extremely dark had its funny moments, this season is so devoid of any humour at all. I just find myself watching season 2 in the background whilst on my laptop or doing something else because it can't hold my full attention.

Shame I'm waiting till it finishes to burn through it. With series 1 I found it so gripping/dark/intense that I had to concentrate fully to take everything in, had amazing character and plot development. Each episode was so intense I felt half exhausted after it. Disappointing to hear it's gone downhill, couldn't help but think it would when I saw the casting.

Yeah it's not really a patch on season one, as Jurgen says, and you may even think about throwing in the towel after the first two or three episodes but ep6 (of 8) has just finished and as i said in my last posti think it's gearing up for a good end to the season. Last two episodes have been really good, quite optimistic it will finish well.

Kind of wished i had done what you are doing and burn through them all once it has all aired

It's the best way, do it pretty much all the time now. Does mean you need to avoid spoilers etc but I think you take in more of the plot etc, I always forget most of what happened the week before if watching live and that can be quite crucial for some of the deeper series. Great when you're hungover and can rattle them off.

I couldn't even tell you what these season is about. Something about Vince Vaughan being dodgy and running a casino. It's been too dark and not enough humour. Plus it goes without saying the casting is a couple of notches below season 1.

I know it's probably intentionally, but they've even managed to make Southern California look dull and colourless.

Just watched the final episode of True Detective, I liked it. Don't get the hate for Vince Vaughan, I think if he was unknown everybody would be fine with him in the role.

Not as good as the 1st series though.

New series on Netlifx called Narcos, out on the 28th August. About Pablo Escobar, so you'd think it will be worth a watch.

Agreed, I rather liked it.
I read a few reviews over the last few weeks and it seems people were unnecessarily piling on the hate because it was a different story and different actors. I appreciate the plotting had definite issues and the writing could have been much tighter, but I did like Vince Vaughn.
