The only thing about the movie which really kept my interest was trying to spot the scenes which were filmed on Brunel University campus, as I was an undergraduate there back in the 1990s.
Not a movie or book that I enjoyed (only kubrick film I've enjoyed is Dr strangelove), but on the topic of the locations the scene at the end where he jumps from a window was filmed at the manor hotel in Elstree* which is just a few hundred yards away from where kubrick lived when he stayed in England, there's a blue plaque on the house.
The hotel was used in multiple films and TV shows, including school for scoundrels, the devil rides out, and hot fuzz.
I've stayed there several times (wouldn't recommend now), last time Tony Adams was staying there while filming celeb come dancing.
*so I've been told by a friend my mine who is a huge kubrick fan. Although the but about the plaque is true as I've seen it.
