Almost finished "Life", the autobiography of Keith Richards. Really enjoying it. It's much better written than I thought it would be and he doesn't hold much back.

Well worth a read. Even if you don't like the Stones, his take on life, and in particular music, is incredible
Just finished Inferno, the latest Robert Langdon story by Dan Brown. Like the other three; Angels & Demons, The Da Vinci Code and The Lost Symbol, it's brilliant. Very entertaining, good plot full of twists and turns and an all round good read.
Next up is finishing Stalingrad, written by Anthony Beevor. Highly recommended so far!

How a man can be gifted with such imagination is amazing. Most of us, including me, are lucky to have an original thought once a month, yet King has produced so many great stories from his mind.

Didn't have AVB's book in Waterstones - Enfield today.
Had to go to the Football section (they appear to have our section right next to the goons for some reason - favouring the Ricky Villa book in particular).
Ended up in the biography section then had to decide what letter his surname began with (ended up on V). Alas no luck.

I read Stalingrad a few years back. A very good read in deed, a viewpoint on the war that was at that point new to me at that point.

Not familiar with either Susan Hill or MR James but if you are looking for horror/thriller then i'd recommend 'It' by Stephen King, currently reading it myself, brilliant so far. Bit lengthy though, think it has 1300 pages in total, got 300 pages or so left myself. Not necessarily a dark and suspense-filled horror though if that's what you are after.
If you are looking for suspense then 'I Am Legend' is pretty decent, don't be put off by the movie if you've seen that, doesn't compare in quality or is all that similar in terms of the story to the book.

Sarah Walters The Little Stranger is very like The Woman in Black. It takes four times as long to tell a similar story but is still a good read.
A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson. Very good.
