According to Sky Italia, Roma have slapped a staggering €70million (£63million) price on the head of playmaker Nicolo Zaniolo amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
Roma took Zaniolo from Inter Milan last summer, signing him as part of a deal which saw star midfielder Radja Nainggolan sign for Inter – and Roma may feel they've actually got the better part of the deal.
19-year-old Zaniolo has been a sensation this season, picking up six goals and two assists having made an immediate impact, starring far sooner than anyone could have expected.
Zaniolo already has two caps for Italy, and it's no great surprise that clubs are now keen to sign the teenager – but Roma are ready to stand firm with a huge asking price.
That may well deter Tottenham Hotspur,
after The Guardian claimed last week that
Spurs have held talks with Zaniolo's agent about a potential move to North London.
That £63million fee is a similar price that Spurs have been quoted for top targets Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso, and that money may even be too rich for those two stars.
It's therefore difficult to see Spurs paying such a huge price for Zaniolo, and in truth, they'd be smarter prioritising Lo Celso anyway, with the Argentinian simply a more well-rounded player right now.
