I think more likely that he simply has no interest in joining Bournemouth.
It actually makes no sense financially for a player to stay in Italy. Players are better off moving overseas and then coming back a few years later at which point they can take advantage of Italy's wealth tax rules and keep a far higher proportion of their wage.
