Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal has responded to speculation that he could be the next Tottenham manager.
Reports in England and Netherlands had suggested that Louis van Gaal was now Tottenham’s number one choice to replace the sacked Andre Villas-Boas.
Dutch reporters NOS are reporting that Louis van Gaal even watched today’s Tottenham win over Southampton with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy in his house in Noordwijk.
When asked about this by NOS, Van Gaal denied the meeting, and would not confirm the interest from Tottenham saying, “I never give comment on offers I get.”
He added on his chances of becoming the next Spurs boss, “I said i wanted to work in the Premier League, so there is a chance.”
Tottenham are believed to want Van Gaal to take charge now, and share his duties with the Netherlands national team until he leaves the job in the summer.
However this is not an option for Van Gaal, ”Anyone who knows me knows i would not do that. That is certainly not the case.”
Reading into the Dutchman’s comments it appears he would welcome the opportunity to manage Tottenham, but it would have to wait until he leaves his position with the Netherlands after the World Cup.
