Re: 2014/2015. If it was up to you

Replace the manager, Benny and Ade.

Nothing else required as long as we go for a "thinker" rather than a "motivator" this time.

Re: 2014/2015. If it was up to you

Owner: Baron Von Moneybags

Let's stop kidding ourselves. We'd love what City have. Some of that please. Let's do it the right way, just like City.

Re: 2014/2015. If it was up to you

I'd pay big money for a big name manager. I'd give him a long-term contract. I'd tell him we've got money to spend, I'd ask him what players he wants. I'd then spend no money, make escuses as to why we can't sign those players and sign others he doesn't want instead. When we're not overachieving I would sack the manager mid-season, pay him a big compensation fee and start the whole process all over again.

Re: 2014/2015. If it was up to you

It's clear the club wants profits over success, so whoever comes in must accept we will have to sell to buy. With that in mind LVG seems like a good fit to work with the current squad and hopefully get more out of them.

With regard to the squad I'd want a new CB, LB and x2 CF. I'd sell Soldado, Adebayor, Siggy and Lennon plus anyone else who won't be 100% commited and wants out.

Most of the squad has the ability and the ones that don't such as Rose, Naughton and Dawson can still be useful against lesser opposition and rotation.

Re: 2014/2015. If it was up to you

LVG for me.
Let him have access to all teams, all playing the same brand of football, bit of continuity.
Plus some experience in key areas, look what naybet done for king and davids done for carrick.
Abidal would be interesting, cover at lb and cb, help rose learn or shaw (pipedream).
Pirlo would be another outstanding shout, help bentaleb progress.

Re: 2014/2015. If it was up to you

id go to Roberto Martinez and offer him however much a season he wants to take the job, offer him the chance to make any changes he wants at all levels. Plus no top 4 pressure from above. If we get it then great. If not what matters most is implementing a playing style that is fun to watch and that picks up points at the same time. The man is supremely ambitious and hard working and his football principles fit nicely with the expectations at Spurs.

Re: 2014/2015. If it was up to you

Chairman: Levy
DoF : Baldini
Manager : anyone with qualifications and 5+ years experience.
Squad : new CB, new LB, cover for RB

= back in the top 4 hunt

Re: 2014/2015. If it was up to you

Didn't say he was.

But if he turns round says he wants 5 or 6 new players for a combined £200m do you sign it off?

He'd have to be stupid to take the job and think that was a reasonable request. So by your own agreement, that won't happen.

Within reason I think you'd have to give him carte blanche.
£150m outlay on new buys could easily be offset against player sales.
Plus we could take the debt hit as the fair play loss ruling takes 3 seasons into account. Feasibly we could get away with a spend up one season. Wether levy would sanction it is another matter.

we just spent over 100 mill on players and look where its got us.........spending is not the answer. We need someone to primarily get the best ôut of what we have whilst adding 2 or 3 of his own signings who have the right character

Re: 2014/2015. If it was up to you

I know, I was just responding to the question of whether 5 or 6 players for 200mil is the answer. As I said it could be off-set. If and a big if, we lose Lloris and Verts, there's 2 we have to replace, not including the other 2 or 3 he may want to bring in.
It could see us having 5 or 6new players with 5 or 6 going out.
Spending may not be the answer, but sometimes it's what it all boils down to.

I assume you mean unreasonable.

Unfortunately I don't think Lewis is throw £100m+ in to the transfer pot above what we can make from sales.

I'd love to see a top quality manager come in, be given carte blanche to sign who he wants and then take us into the top 4 on a regular basis, unfortunately I'm not Lewis or Levy so don't hold the purse strings.

I'm sure we're talking at crossed purposes here, but my point is that LvG would know enough about the club (or find it out) to know that our transfer spend is mostly neutral.

That if he wanted to buy £200m of talent, he'd have to sell it.

Yeah I think we were.

Agree with you that he'd have to sell to buy.

Re: 2014/2015. If it was up to you

Martinez isn't going to leave Everton for us.

GHod knows what we'll do. Our stock has dropped, the competition have improved and we need an overhaul yet we've ****ed away £100+ mill. We can't keep doing that.

I'm afraid we've missed out chance.

Best thing to do is crack on with the stadium and try to get a philosophy engrained in the club.

Ship the time wasters like Ade, vert and lloris. Bring in the best young stars we can plus a few experienced heads

Go Lallana, Lovren, Begovic, Ba and Remy
