Next Manager?

I doubt it, Real are skint and no way they'd sell him for 100m only. Hazard went for that and he's not as good and older.

PSG are trying to call Madrid’s bluff by saying he is staying and can leave on a free in a year if Madrid do not this summer pay what they spent on him, which is about £160m.

Perez will not do this and the original plan b was to then sign Haaland for £150m this summer and take Mbappe in 12 months for free.

Madrid’s plan A would see a combined outlay of £166m (KM 2021 £100m & EH 2022 £66m) for the pair and plan B would be £150m (EH 2021 £150m & KM 2022 £0m).

Perez wants plan A as he is desperate for Mbappe asap as amongst other things he promised him to the voters. But plan A or plan B is fine because the two players in reality are worth a combined £400m.

The issue Perez has is that if plan A is blocked by PSG what does Perez do, as already there is no plan B anymore because BVB have said the £150m price was only available if they missed out on CL. Now they have made CL they will not sell Haaland for any price this summer.

This is where it gets interesting as I sense Perez finding a new plan A+ which as I said previously would involve signing Kane for £150m this summer and then adding Mbappe for free next summer and also Haaland for £66m next summer.

This intriguing possibility would result in the most demonic strike force in history valued at around £600m arriving at Madrid for a combined £216m which would be truly incredible business.

Real have been skint for years, banks wont do anything about it as they are the national team.
They'll just sell a plot of land to the government for a few hundred million and buy it back for a million a few years later. They make City and PSG look squeaky clean but nothing is ever done about it.

All sounds a bit theoretical and can't see that playing out. They're skint and could barely afford their stadium refurb.

I think Mbappe might sign a new contract, he's from the Paris area and loves it there - Neymar has also renewed his contract as well.

They just tried to overturn the tv rights distribution in spain (wanted to go back to what it was). Madrid court said no.

Mbappe and Haaland already have agreements with Madrid.

One way or another by the very early days of the summer window 2022 they will both be at real madrid.

I just hope the mystery manager isn't Zidane. It's hugely unlikely but it has the word 'disaster' written all over it. I'm afraid Levy could be tempted to try something stupid to make up for the loss of Kane or to try to convince him to stay. At this stage, any combination involving Rangnick would be good news and even Potter would feel like a bullet dodged when you read some of the names we've been linked with...

PSG having been pipped to the French title by Lille by one point, seems their fans would be quite happy to see Poch go back to Tottenham

I just posted this in the Potter thread but thought I’d copy it here for discussion

potters next step could be a club that he wouldn’t want to leave to join us
People need to have a look at some managers careers to understand the trajectories the better ones have been on...
Poch was sacked with his team bottom on in Spain
Conte had a mare at several clubs before being given a chance at juventus bu getting Sienna promoted. He hadn’t won a thing before hand and had managed a team that got relegated
Klopp took over Mainz and struggled to get the them promoted. It took him 3 years I believe and even then they limped over the line. Then he took them down again
That’s 3 of the world big 6 managers (I’d add pep, simeone and possibly Jose to that)
Great managers need opportunities
Great managers need chances
In this country it’s so rare to see a big club do that. We did it with Poch and he didn’t have a great record despite what some will say. He took an average Southampton side and made them a bit better. He came here and inherited some am amazing players. He created some unity and got them brought into a system, and that actually took time too
We can try to appoint a name off the shelf but there’s a reason why there not employed currently. Or we can go for a manager who is held in very high regard by the guy just voted as the best manager in the land
Alternatively he could go to arsenal for example and turn them into a better side. That’s very possible abs quite scary TBH as their not as far away as people think with the second best form in the land since Christmas
That’s why we have to be decisive and brave. Potter is a brave call

I’ll add that looking at simeones record before atletico it’s quite bonkers. Regional trophies followed by chaos it seems

Could it be there is more of a focus on coaching/tactical reputation abroad wjen viewing the job a manager is doing compared to the UK which is more results/track record based?

I think in Europe clubs promote much more form within the league
Conte here would be the equivalent of farke maybe or Parker
And Klopp would be wilder
But our fans generally wouldn’t accept those kind of appointments as their not names
The premier league by its every nature has a lot of name managers historically.

When Poch was on the short list he was the one i wanted here as Ioved the aggressive pressing SCBC did. He also seemed a decent unassuming guy, but well respected by his players, and a game plan. I get the same feeling with GP. He’s got to cut his teeth somewhere and lets be honest, the players we currently have are not too big for him!
