I think the club is surveying its options and has probably found out Poch wont come until he knows whether Ancellotti will leave Madrid within the next 6 months. Also that De Zerbi will cost a fortune to buy him out of his contract.

So we are left with taking Tuchel now with an 18 month deal, putting Mason in charge until the Summer or sticking with Conte until the Summer.
 
If you do the math, ancelotti will be Brazil manager after this season ends, poch will replace him as Real Madrid manager. De Zerbi maybe gettable in the Summer if we are prepared to pay 15m-20m to buy him out of his contract, which we wont as there is still some uncertainty on whether he is the real deal.

So that leaves taking tuchel now on an 18 month deal as nothing new will open up in terms of options in the Summer.

How do you know this is the case, or that these are the only 3 managers we are considering?

Can’t imagine he would or should immediately walk into another job if he is sacked.

Seems madness to sack him though, they have a CL QF to come and are neck and neck with BVB in the league.

Tuchel’s availability must have magnified some concerns they have about Nagelsmann bringing a potential future discussion to the fore. Also the fear of missing out on Tuchel if they think he could be about to go elsewhere…
 
But if that happens and it means Poch, De Zerbi and Tuchel are off the table then I’d put Mason and Stellini in charge until the Summer and then appoint Nagelsmann on a long term deal.

Bayern can have their pick of most managers in the game and Tuchel would likely choose Bayern over any club being a German - don't see them being rushed in to appointing him for fear of going elsewhere

He would choose Bayern over most if not all clubs but he wont imo turn down work and jobs he is interested in if Bayern tell him they might appoint him in the Summer.

He will want assurances it is definitely happening in the Summer or better still he will want to be appointed now, hence what seems to be unfolding in the corridors of the Bayern offices…

Bayern won't be bent to Tuchels wants or needs - they can appoint just as good a manager in the summer, or better.

And the only job going right now may be ours so hardly a worry for them or something Tuchel will jump in to if he's hoping for a call from Bayern

I think we have scared Bayern into sacking Nagelsmann early after being linked with Tuchel. We know Levy wanted Nagelsmann before, It's all part of a cunning plan*!!

*It's not really is it
