Appointing a manager who in the last 6 years has quickly bounced between Hull, Watford, Everton and Fulham really would confirm we've fallen a long way!
So I guess we know fudge all right now
Nohe left them relegated didn't he?
YepShows being the right man in the right place is an important (but unpredicable) factor. Sometimes, it's a matter of finding the right words when you speak to the players. I made a quick research a couple of weeks back and when you look at club of a similar standing to ours, one successful appointment in three or four is par for the course.
Nuno had never had a chance to fail at the top level until he did with us.Someone like Nuno?
They were in financial difficulty and sold most the squad after a good first season and left him with a bunch of academy players iirc - obviously doesn't translate to a particularly good spell all in all but I'm not sure I've seen anyone say that tbh

Similar to how the fitness coach at Spurs died at the start of this season and the squad got very emotionally affected by that? And their main CB/captain Jarque died. The squad got very emotionally affected by that
Similar to when we employed someone who got the sack from Espanyol with his team in last place, then bounced over to Southampton?
I mean, it was literally your rationale that appointing Silva would show how far we’ve fallen because of his chequered history I was disproving, by highlighting Poch’s chequered history! Not sure how that proves that Silva would be a success!!
Based on your rationale, we'd hire every manager Espanol has sacked and who wasnt sacked in the first year of their next place!
The only shoure thing right now is that we looks like fools, no manager, no dof, no europe and maybe no Kane

It’s not my rationale, it’s yours mate.

It has all the hallmarks of a club that’s about to be sold.
Maybe we need to face up to the truth before we can get on the road to recovery. It’s good to know where we stand and we may as well face the fact that we have fallen a long way. Since 2016/17 (our peak) here’s our final league position:
2-3-4-6-7-4-8
It looks like last season was an aberration.
Happy to be challenged on this mate. He took over at Espanyol, with them bottom of the league and him still a player coach. He took them to mid table in his first season taking 4 points off Pep Guardiola's brilliant Barcelona team. Finished mid table with a team in deep financial trouble and having to sell their best players 3 seasons in a row. Eventually left by "mutual consent" ( same as Conte at Spurs). with them bottom of La Liga but not relegated. It is widely acknowledged that he impressed at Espanyol which brought him to the attention of Nicola Cortese at Southampton who brought him to the PL.Scary right
People talk Poch was a success at espanyol and when challenged never comment ..
he had some decent results there but you would never touch him off the back of that spell
