Mid June is leaving it late. I’d want the new manager well versed in our first team and higher age level youth squads by then and already working with the DoF on positions and types of players required to be brought in.

And how would he do that if everyone's on vacation until then?

Why do anyone join PSG where a domestic double is considered failure, but you don't have the quality to win the CL?

Or Chelsea that go through managers faster than we manage to re-hire them?

Or Watford that average about three sackings per season?

Or any other club that's at least as big a mess and laughing stock as we apparently are?

It pays well and you'll always get another gig somewhere. Even Everton managed to get Ancelotti and they've mostly been a joke for decades now.

Fair enough. I dont agree - I'd think that particularly someone like Potter, as opposed to a Jose/Conte, wants time to build something. Therefore a chairman who fires on a whim is an influence in their decision just like cash available to invest, expectations, control over transfers etc

Just the first three I thought of. I'm sure I could list dozens if I had some insight in other leagues. Point is, the kind of train wreck club that couldn't entice any half decent manager to take charge doesn't exist. Guardiola and Poch might be happy to take time off and wait for the right jobs, but I can't think of many others.

He did well for both Brighton and in Sweden. Didn't know he was off to France.

Not happening. Why would a manager with a decent reputation risk coming to Spurs and being fired within a year? Particularly given when you'll be expected to challenge for the top 4 despite the squad being a mess. We're just not an attractive opportunity for a decent manager at the moment. Next 2-3 years needs to focus on getting us back to being one - improve the squad, settled squad, not firing the manager, playing attractive football...improving our image

People are talking about expectations, but do we really know what these expectations are right now? I seriously doubt getting top 4 would be listed as an expectation in our current state. An incentive, maybe, but not an expectation. I'm guessing that the expectation right now would probably be to have us in a position to challenge again for top-4 and higher in 2-3 years time and show progress in our playing style and consistency in the meantime. Any manager worth his salt would sign up to that. But it would also depend on what structure he will be working under so as for him to achieve this. It's the lack of clear structure that may be giving prospective managers pause. Not the "expectations" themselves.

Agree, but I would still prefer Nagelsman and have a feeling he is not out of the picture (if he ever actually was). There hasn't been any real rejection vibes, more that if he is to join then he wants certain things in place.

If not him, then if Spaletti does indeed leave Napoli in the coming weeks I hope Levy is at least enquiring about his situation.....

What do the club want? I don't know. Some fans want a manager who can change things around in a short time other are looking for a long term solution.
What do candidates want, big wages, bags of money to rebuild, time to rebuild using academy players?
Just need someone who can fit what the club want with their own requirements, probably most of the managers with been linked were never interested or on Brightons list but that appears to be working out along with Frank at Brentford, do we need a "name"? it's worked so well recently.
Whatever happens half the fans will love them while the other half will think its a mistake and in a year everyone will either love or hate them.

An emplotment contract is in essence payment for a service
It’s not an area I’m an expert on of course

I'm pretty sure a notice period would be legally binding.
How it would be enforced if an employee walked out of a job without giving the requisite notice is probably a different issue and would be dependent on the employer taking action against the employee for breach of contract, or getting some kind of injunction to stop them taking up another position - whether it's worth doing that would depend on a number of factors.
I'm also fairly sure that in my current employment contract there is a clause where I warrant that I am free to take on the role.
