If we haven't contacted him at all, i do wonder what is going on at Spurs

I'm surprised when people are surprised that we haven't contacted him 'at all' for 'for a chat'.

Levy will know Poch and would know that he'd almost certainly return. Poch has even said as much publicly.

Therefore there's little point calling him unless we're going to offer him the job.

If I was Levy then I'd make that call and bring him back, but if Levy doesn't want him back then I'm not sure what would be gained from speaking to him

If they had a small squad with some goals in it, I’d agree
But he needs time to bring in his ways … assuming he works the same way he did here
He won’t get that there. The pressure is on from day 1
They literally binned off a very similar coach after 7 months
What’s changed?
we will see
The squad will be trimmed a bit (raising funds) and Poch will work with the players that are buying into his methods. They could use Broja up front if they don’t buy another forward (though I expect that they will buy one). They have a huge amount of sellable players and talent right across the squad.

Shall we have a bet on which of Spurs and Chelsea next win a trophy and which of the two clubs wins more trophies over the next decade?

I think that we'd probably agree that it would be Chelsea. That doesn't change the fact that Chelsea have not currently operated in a way that suits Poch under Boehly.

To get his ideas for what he thinks needs to happen at Spurs perhaps? My take on it is the reverse of many people’s, I think we haven’t spoken to him because he has made it clear that he doesn’t want to come back (and I don’t blame him for that) and it wouldn’t be a good look for Levy to have Poch turn us down.

Aquiring lots of talented young players? I think Poch will be delighted with their squad that now only has a single piece missing. I’m sure he’ll also have a lot more faith in Boehly adding the final missing piece than he would Levy adding it.

But in your theory, he has turned him down? How do you get turned down without speaking?

Anything to blame Levy eh :D

He's going to want to shift at least 20 players and I suspect that Boehly won't be able to resist buying players over his head. For it to work, I think that Boehly need to keep his distance, and Poch has to work constructively with their various sporting directors. I think that the recruitment people that Boehly have brought in are good but it looks to me like he is too involved.

I think we haven’t spoken to him because he has let it be known through intermediaries that he isn’t interested in the job. Otherwise it would be absolutely mental for Spurs not to,at least speak to him. In reverse of what you think here, I am actually trying to find a scenario that doesn’t make your hero Daniel Levy seem mental. The only logical reason not to at least speak to him is if we know he doesn’t want the job.

No he’s not. He will just work with a standard sized squad of 25 players plus a few youngsters. I suspect he’ll use pre-season to see who is and isn’t buying in to his methods and players not involved will have it made clear to them that they don’t feature in his plans (resulting in them seeking moves).

Just imagine being able to select a squad of 24 young, hungry, talented players - from a pool of 40 young, hungry, talented players. Then you flog the other 16, use the money to buy Kane, then win the league.

Impressive mental gymnastics.

They’re friends and, according to Levy, still regularly communicate. Poch may indeed have said he’s not interested in returning. I don’t know how that reflects positively or negatively on Levy.

I do find it weird that people think that Pochettino wouldn’t be extremely excited about working with that very talented young squad at Chelsea. It is pretty much tailor made for him.

Sorry I’ve no idea what you are getting at there with your first line.

Can you explain what there would be to lose in THFC speaking to Pochettino about the Spurs manager’s job?

- Who are you selling the 16 high wage, long contract, football failures to?

- And even if you eat the loss, how do you clear FFP with huge losses on 16 players after having spent £600M in a year

- And that isn't even considering you need two top level strikers coming in

And yes, someone will make some comment "at least they win trophies", for running at negative a million a week for a decade+, and then spending £600M on top of that, it is kind of minimum requirement.

If he is allowed to !!
I read yesterday that they want Neymar in the summer, no room for youngsters with helmets like that coming in
Also they have to sell a huge amount of players before July 1st too, chances are a lot of the youngsters will go again

Loan, them. Enter a B-team in the Isthmian League. It doesn't matter.

So long as he starts the season with the 25 he wants on the training ground, the rest are just disposable Adebayors and Kabouls.

I don’t think Chelsea have anything like 16 to sell and most of their players are reasonably young and desired by other clubs. They also spent their £600m over a very long amortization length so are probably only accounting £80m per season. They’ll cover FFP just by selling Mason Mount.

*edit…. According to transfermarkt they have 32 players in their squad with 4 of those still counting as under 21 next season. And three more (Kante, Felix and Zakaria) having contracts end this summer. That already puts them at the required number of 25 players
