Guess that’s where we could do with a vocal captain organising the defence at set pieces, so we don’t end up with 4 players caught under the flight of the ball whilst opposition have 3 on 2 at far post...

Incredible that a simple far post cross can leave a 3 on 2. Not only that but a 3 on 2 including probably the three best West Ham players in the air. IMO it is Lloris that should be calling this. It probably wouldn't have mattered anyway seeing as one of the two players actually picked up scored the goal, but Lloris has a clear view of this and should be calling (probably) Hojbjerg or Kane across to pick up the spare man.

I suspect that had we actually had one available then Mourinho may well have brought on a third centre half on Sunday. West Ham's main threat was crosses, corners and free kicks but we didn't really have anything on the bench that could help with that.

We did have Ben Davies on the bench plus Vinicius who used to play as CB and shouldn’t be so far from match fitness as Bale. Oh and Doherty played as CB for Ireland vs Wales last week too!

That’s where I fear the Lucas sub was, in hindsight, a mistake. I think that old mou might have showed up the win with another defensive playa.

Generally agree, though will be interesting to see whether Jose plays PEH and Sissoko against a team which comes to WHL to sit back.

To take the team onto the next level though, agreed that signing a physical specimen for CM who can offer more on the ball than Sissoko would be high up the list
