Should make Sissoko even more of an interception monster bit put the likes of Henderson back in their place.

if anything sissoko is so polarizing because he has a pretty narrow skills range. fans hope to see what they want to see in a position/role. but the coach lays out the game plan and chooses the player for that role. so if sissoko gets picked and fans don't like it they should also questions the managers strategies and tactics. seems like poch and mourinho all counted on sissoko to do a job in midfield and he did it well enough to get picked repeatedly under both managers.

Probably a lot to do with an injury crisis and lack of options in CM, but on the whole it is a very valid point and I think Sissoko performed well in his role last season. I’m looking forward to a CM without him though, with respect!

José hinted about returning him to right wing forward a little while ago (admittedly before then playing him back in CM again!)
I do wonder if that might be a rotation role for him in future, especially with the quality and quantity we now seem to have added in midfield.
