Mousa Dembele

I certainly don't think he Is gold but he is a very good player who we shook aim to for in the team some how

Our best performances last season were when he played, arse, Chelsea an Everton at home and west brom away
 
We need to get some cash together and free up some space in the squad and wage budget. Whilst I'd like to see him kept, he isn't a first team starter and if we can get decent cash for him I wouldn't be against seeing him leave.
 
I agree with the above sentiments that if a player doesn't suit our system shop hem out.... But how did he suit us in the games I mentioned above?
 
Still one of my favourite players but I am not blind to his shortcomings. I agree with Bedford that we played our best with him in the team, especially in the number 10 role, but he needs take more risks around the box and the get a shot off. I'd have him out on the training pitch all day doing this one thing over and over.

And how many players would prefer to be on our bench instead of Chelsea's? Will be more handsomely paid and winners medals for the pleasure of being a squad player. I also think he's better than Mikel who seems to feature enough for them but maybe that's just me...
 
He lacks some technical skills and the right mentality. In a way the mentality bit is more important. He will never be able to float cross field passes or produce a flick or trick to beat a player, but if he was driven, completely determined, he could run games. By taking the ball, sucking players in, holding them off and playing a pass into space. He can also shimmy past people dribbling. If a coach could get into his head and get him to be 'the man', the one running the midfield, you'd have a beast of a player.

Can't see him doing that at Spurs now. He'd suit Spain or Italy.

Dembele is not better than Mikel in the destroyer role ..

Of course he will be richly rewarded for sitting on their bench and I think that he would be a useful squad player for them.

Yeah. Dembeles situation puzzles me.If it was a case of he just didn't fit into the system or whatever then fair enough. But I have seen him played higher up the pitch in individual games and performing well,only for him to be dropped the next game. I think he's being underused for us...

I think that his tendency to linger on the ball and his lack of goals mean that he is always going to struggle to hold down a place further forward

Yet a player like lamella does te same thing and people think he has shown more.... Puzzles me as i said earlier that a player who was key in all our best performances can't fit the system yet played so well in the system in those games

I'm not comparing Dembele with other players, just discussing his strengths and weaknesses. I like him as a player but I do not think that he is particularly well suited to Poch's preferred way of playing and I could see the sense in selling him if we got a good bid for him.
