Mohammed Kudus

Have to say I’m a little undecided about him but let’s hope he can recapture the form he showed at Ajax that got him a move to the PL in the first place. Good to see we are being proactive in addressing a dire need (forwards).

Even more amusing if we just pay the release fee for MGW, but ignored Kudus' release fee (rightly so, ridiculously high) and haggled a deal.
I wonder if there was some strategic planning in getting the Kudus deal agreed below release clause before just dropping the full amount for MGW literally 24 hrs later. Just to avoid the Hammers getting all angsty (or childish ) about it.

I think West Ham were far FAR more desperate for cash asap and us offering a big enough amount up front meant that we could do a total price that is much more palatable.
And compares very well to recent deals for, say, Gittens, Elanga and seemingly Madueke.

I'd imagine that's very likely.
I'm sure the Kudus deal would have got done anyway, but it would muddy the waters and likely make it more protracted if we had another deal where we paid release fee (if that's all true, of course).

Oh I agree they were in need of cash. But in business when you're dealing with a club that probably hates you and the likes of Sullivan and Brady best to keep things as smooth as possible in case one of their numpties starts to get a bit emotional about the situation (ie if they saw we was just dropping the full RC for MGW) and start playing silly buggers.

West Ham fans are bitter, yes he didn’t have a great season last season but he was playing out of position. West Ham fans say he is brick and now some Spurs fans are doubting the move. Even in a brick season he still stood out in a lot of games. He said he came to Spurs because of Franks track record with improving players, so he is clearly ready to learn.

Some West Ham fans have also mentioned how he was clearly using them as a stepping stone and he didn’t seem interested last season until he played against the top teams where he turned up and put in a performance because he wanted one of them to buy him. I would take him being brick but turning up against the big boys to be fair, what with our squad we could literally sit him on the bench until we play the big teams 😂

Also had change in managers. Moyes bought him he played well. Loppy and potter not so much.

I think he could develop into one of the best in the league quite quickly. He has the perfect physique for the modern game, no real detectable physical weakness at all, great at running/dribbling fast and creating chances. Really glad we got him...
It's certainly not his physical side we need to work on.

Frank has his work cut out working on the decision making side of his game. It's a bit late for him to be starting that, so let's hope he's a late developer.

One of the media outlets actually did the research, last season he played in 6+ positions and didn't have more that 9 games in any single position, really not hard to see why his output was affected.

Agreed re: physical. That's baked in. I sat with a scout (ironically at Brentford) season before last who had clients at West Ham. He told me the overall evaluation of Kudus was he had the potential to become elite because physically he was pretty much 'the perfect specimen' and he had a keen appetite to learn. West Ham already knew they would not be able to keep him back then. I'd say his devlopment has been stunted by the turbulence there. That Kudus showed such public enthusiasm for wanting to work with Frank is a great sign that he wants to learn.

Far be it for me to be optimistic (LOL) but I really think this could turn out to be a bargain (full disclosure I was disappointed we did not get him when Ajax were selling)...
