Modric - No Longer A Spurs Player

It's important above all else we keep our dignity in the matter and act as professionally as possible. Luka has thrown his toys out again, and is looking like an idiot. We have no obligation to sell. People criticising Levy for being greedy can go to hell, these unrealistic price tags are designed to scare people away.

Just maintain to Real, thanks for the interest in Luka Modric, undortunately your offer has not been deemed suitable for the club, hence we reject it.

But we do need to seek an alternative. If we don't have the money for a Moutinho then let's look at a cheaper alternative, whether that be a Dembele type player or someone else.

Levy proved me wrong last year. I had him down all along to take the best financial deal in the end. I was most impressed when he stuck to his guns.

I actually think the real benefit of that is yet to come. When we stamp our authority this year and say "take it or leave it" people will stop and listen IMHO and wont venture calling our bluff.

I dont hate Modric. Ive no issue with him wanting to leave. I dont appreciate his apparent way of going about these things though and wont see excuses made for it. Its nothing personal though is it? We are emotionally invested in the club but ultimately to these guys its business...

£30m wouldn't be bad at all. We rejected £40m from Chelsea, but the price naturally goes up for a team in the same league, it goes up again because they were a rival and they also have plenty of money so a few extra million to Abramovich isn't a lot in the greater scheme of things.

Above all else, I just hope he's gone before the start of the season.

The guy is total scum, he is his agent, and he gave modrics wife away at their wedding, because her dad was dead...Do you think he has a say in what Luka does?

£30m would not be bad you say? i think it would be because that is the type of figure Madrid would be happy to pay as opposed to what Levy says they should pay.

Mate there is a time to negotiate deals but more importantly there is a time to draw a line in the sand, a line you will not cross because you do not want to become Madrid's biatch.If Levy has said not a penny less than £35m then I for one hope Levy sticks to it to as a matter of principle

I think he would be a very trusted adviser to Modric, someone seen as being wise and well considered - but I still wouldnt see Modric acting on Mamics advice as Modric not being responsible for his own actions.
 
I ve heard something abot that in town, but from what I know about him, he is a very quiet family guy, so I wouldnt bet on it...

I know nothing about the guy. You seem to know a bit. I thought his agent was danchev?

Going by what you say he gave his Missus away so yeah must be close friends plus he's his agent so I'd imagine they talk yes!!

Putting all emotions aside, I can understand Modric being tempted by Madrid but I'm not sure I can believe he's got a gun to his head in all this.

But there's also a point where you have to do what's best for the squad too, which is to get rid of Modric. I agree that we should try and rinse them for as much as possible, but I also think £30m would still be quite a good deal and will mean we will have almost doubled what we paid for him.

Mamic has 30% of his earnings, I think thats a good motive for pushing for a better salary...
 
Modric signed for Dinamo Zagreb as a 17-year old. His agent's father is chairman and his uncle director of football there.

IMO the agent is the driving force, but Modric isn't innocent.
