Mental Health Discussion & Check-In Thread

Mods:

Might it be better to tweak the thread title? Rather than "suffer from mental illness", say "struggle with mental health" or something so that posters feel freer to open up about seemingly small issues that are troubling them?

Yeah, agree. You can absolutely have good and bad mental health, and it shouldn't need to be an illness to write about it.

I knew my mental health was going to be in a bad place today. it was one year to the day since I lost my mum to dementia. I woke up this morning knowing today was going to be a tough day. It was a rough day, but I got through it.

By the way, what a wonderful thread this is, and has been, since Danish started it. A great contribution, and it has proven to be a place for us to drop into both for ourselves and for each other. As the world spirals further out of control, I personally think we should be proud this space exists; I feel safe assuming everyone agrees.

It's the best thing on the internet. ♥️

It's so pedantic / particular but in addition to the change of the wording, COULD IT NOT BE IN CAPITALS BECAUSE IT FEELS LIKE THE THREAD IS SHOUTING AT YOU!!!!!

I agree that this thread is handy despite probably bickering here a couple of times. But then is true support just agreeing with what people say? It's probably somewhere between tough love and placating folks.

A lot of the time it's just about listening.

(Agree on the CAPS)

Agreed, knowing that someone wants to listen and that others are going through similar issues is a help.

Great initiative from the PL.

(@ Mods - just thinking maybe this should be a pinned thread in Random?).

One every 90 minutes is insane. fudging hell. That's just very sad.

I heard a podcast with Rick Rubin and Joe Dispenza lately about some sort of group meditation healing thing they did, with some incredible results for especially anxiety, depression and ptsd. I have to look more into the material, but found it fascinating to listen to. Joe just talking Rick's ear off about findings. Recommend it to anyone interested. Podcast is called Tetragrammaton. Lots of other good guests as well.

Thought I'd put this in here as a super interesting conversation about life, growing up, relationships etc...various concepts, realities and fresh angles to look at things. Thought provoking.
Don't have to watch, just listen on your podcast app if you want.
