Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

I’m not sure that any team who has whacked United 3-0 at OT in the league has failed to get top 4 or even win the thing.

It’s one really bad result and performance that I’m still seething about but I have faith in the manager and players. Whack the Bindippers and all will be well with the world.

COYMFS.

Sadly, Jose third-season-syndrome means we can enjoy that win, but just like when the likes of Bournemouth, Southampton and Palace were whacking him in his last days at Stamford Bridge, we can't use that as too much of a barometer (compared to say using it last season).

I honestly fear for us vs Liverpool:(

As do all strikers even the best ones.
Of course, it wasnt meant to be a big criticism but he does - I dont think hes as deadly a finisher as say Augero I think he misses more easy chances than him. But one of Kanes great strengths is that even when he misses one or two, he will carry on getting into the positions to score - he wont go hiding....

Don't be silly. We will win 10-0 if you listen to GG posters. Salah is the only player who would get in our side.

Except it's beginning to look like Harry is changing his game a little. He's been criticised for his poor record on assists in the past and has said he wants to improve on that. And it has seemed that in recent games he's been coming deeper and deeper and trying instead to bring others in more and set up chances for them.

Especially now that he has Lucas alongside him. Personally I was furious with him on Sunday for attempting to set up the Brazilian rather than have a go himself, not because Lucas might have missed (although that too) but because predictably enough the pass was intercepted. When you're up against such a physical and resolute defence as Watford's, not too many clever passes are going to find their way through - and that's exactly what happened.

So I say stick to what you're best at Harry and put the ball in the back of the flaming net!

Yeah that stuck out for me the Moura pass, I’ve never seen Kane do that before - he’s usually selfish when within a sniff of goal I was really surprised he didn’t use Moura as a decoy to create room for him to manoeuvre. Made the point in commentary that with Moura playing up top with him as opposed to what he’s used to in being up front on his own could make him less single minded when it comes to shooting...

On the Guardian Weekly podcast they were talking about why Kane is dropping deeper and one of the contributors says he has heard, “from people who know Kane”, that Kane sees himself as more of a creator than a goal scorer. Which sounds a bit bizarre. I mean we all know Kane can create and he doesn’t goal hang - if there’s nothing obvious happening he will try to carve out chances himself. But he is (to me) first and foremost a prolific striker and, fitness permitting, that’s what I would rather he concentrated on.

Me too. Bloody hope I'm wrong but I dread that the media/twitter scorn around him claiming the Eriksen fk goal may have gotten to him. Like he now feels the need to rid himself of the 'too selfish' tag.

I think it's simply that he is bloody hardworking and maybe wants to be all things. I was just interested to hear that opinion on the podcast.

I think Alli has gone down this road too (and I always found it ridiculous when Berbatov said he preferred to create rather than score£. An assist king always makes me question their mentality as there’s no responsibility on an undercooked pass compared to missing the chance itself.

Harry is a ruthless goal scoring machine, who scored all type of goals from positions where a less single minded player wouldn’t have even seen the opportunity. Hopefully the pass to Moura against Watford will remind him of his strengths.

"First of all I want to congratulate him, because it's such an important victory to avoid the military service," Pochettino said. "Then [I want] to congratulate the club because the club has protected a big asset.

"I told him today: 'Where is my present, Sonny? I want a watch or some Korean food.' Because when we see in the past that different clubs didn't allow [him] to go to play in this tournament, who took the risk? I did.

"Rather than congratulate him and the club, people need to congratulate me and say thank you because I allowed him to go there and put his individual situation in front of the collective."

Was it really that difficult to let son go and was it really a decision that poch made by himself?

Sounds like it was said tongue in cheek by a laughing smiling Poch.

I think so - Sonny could have made a difference at watford, we are now already playing catch up. Need a win today

The toy one you won at the fair when you were six?:D
Poch is classier than that!
A modern classic like this describes him well

Exactly. I read it and it looked on paper most un-Poch like because he is always about the collective. I can only imagine that he was trying to be funny and that context is completely lost when you’re just looking at a transcript.

Seems to have taken his eye off the ball this season, another performance where the players were clearly not prepared correctly, tactically, physically or mentally.
