Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

yes, great idea, I think Poco may have enjoyed it

Pochettino.
"It was a pleasure, a fantastic idea, it was a great idea, it was a lovely night, it was a fantastic idea, a lovely night, I think it was important"

...he said with a gun pointed to the back of his head

I think that everyone has got the wrong idea about Levy. I think that he is really like Ben Kingsley's character in Sexy Beast.

I think you need to look at the season in its totality and not just at 3-4 game stretches. Yes, we did well over the Xmas period with little rotation, but that's just a 4-game stretch. You need to take into consideration the demands of the entire season. I'm sure Poch is doing that, so anything we offer is probably just second guessing, as you correctly point out.

I understand that it is the whole season. We have a young side, and with the quotes recently from the players that they see the FA Cup as a priority it says to me that the club believes that it can fight on with the current squad and maybe some reinforcements. I think with the exception of Kane, there has been adequate rotation. I just don't agree with the notion that we need to choose which competitions we want to go for and rest more players accordingly. That imho is the wrong thing to do.

Could not agree more, we take one game at a time, win it and move onto the next.

Nice idea from Levy that seems to have had an effect.

Levy invited Pochettino and a number of club legends to a dinner in London on Thursday and the Argentine reminisced with the likes of Ossie Ardiles, Micky Hazard, Pat Jennings and Tony Galvin about past glories.
"It was a pleasure to meet them all, a fantastic idea from Daniel and the club. They are an important part of the history and the present of the club. It was a great idea from Daniel to explain the present project of the club and to feel the history is very important for us.
It was a lovely night to share with them ideas and their experience can help take the club the right way. They can be involved and that can be very important.
It was a fantastic idea, a lovely night to share and talk about football. I learned the passion that people have and how people identify with the badge. I think it was important to feel this love for the club."
I'm wondering if Levy has done this with other coaches. Seems there's a real bond between Levy and Poch which bodes well for the current atmosphere in the club, the long term stability, and the chance that Poch will stay on for a long time.

There does indeed and long may it continue. It seems that of our recent managers, Poch is the one that is wanting to build a dynasty and change the club. Some of the others talked about project or being 3 players short, but Poch is the one that is acting with class and, touch wood, seems to be succeeding.

he does seem to have a rapport with the managers in the good times, him and AVB had a bit of a love in for a while, likewise with Harry, also didn't he turn up at Martin Jol's house once with a Porsche he had brought for him?

Yeah, let's see how this "Rapport" is when we lose a game and the usual suspects come out and say he is brick...or even more likely Levy is brick...

So far, Pochettino has not been linked with any other club since joining us. Wonder if he can say no if big teams like Real Madrid, Emirates Marketing Project or even Argentina come in for him in future.

Manchester United target Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino as possible Louis van Gaal replacement
Old Trafford chiefs have been impressed by the Argentine, who has helped Tottenham above United in the Premier League table

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is high on Manchester United’s wanted list.

The highly-rated Argentinian impressed the United hierarchy with his calmness, dignity and coaching ability even before he joined Spurs 18 months ago.

And the way he has guided the Londoners into Premier League title contention with a minimum of fuss has only added to his reputation inside Old Trafford with Louis van Gaal’s future far from assured.

So, Pochettino is already being linked with other clubs. But he should realise that ManU is living in past glory. History books prove that football empires normally need 20-30 years to recover their past glory once their domination ends. Just ask Liverpool or even Arsenal !

If true, then this moment is a real sliding doors moment at our club. If Pochettino were to depart, would all the good work be undone instantly? Would there be a manager who could come in and build on the foundations?

If Pochettino stays, it would appear, based on this season, that the sky is the limit. Even if, as would seem likely, we don't win the Prenier League. Pochettino has moved us in to a position that we've not been in since Redknapp's days. We are deemed, by a lot of people, to be a contender. Give the young players a year of experience and we could come even closer next season.

That's my view too. Can't see Poch going anywhere at the moment. I don't think we will win the League this season but we are certainly on an upward trajectory and why shouldn't the sky be the limit in the not too distant future with our collection of youngsters, the new stadium etc. The future is brightest here for him,no ?

lets face it, it's United, no manager has ever turned the offer down and no manager ever will

we have a structure here that seems to be working, if it falls apart when any single piece leaves then it wasn't worth getting excited about it in the first place, we are not going to be successful without resiliency anyway
