Mark Clattenburg

Okay, so now it seems to be coming out that it's Luiz and Ramires who are the players accusing Clattenberg......not sure about Luiz but Ramires can't yet speak English apparently.

The idea Clattenburg would say that on a pitch, in full view of all the cameras, at Chelsea of all places (given recent issues) is nothing short of absurd.

I suspect the whole thing will be concluded by the FA deciding Mikel genuinely thought that is what he heard but that Clattenburg said nothing of the sort. If the FA have any sort of bottle they will scrutinise all the footage and, in the absence of any evidence he said it, they should rule that there is no evidence that Clattenburg said anything of the sort.

The way to deal with dissent to refs (which is completely out of control in football - we regularly see players telling refs to f-off) is to introduce new rules:
1. Only captain speaks to ref and linesman.
2. Any dissent by players (which should be defined as swearing or questioning a decision) to ref or linesman results in an immediate 10 min sin bin for that player and if it is the second time in the game, its a red card. 5 separate instances of dissent by the players of any one club in any one season would result in a 3 point deduction for the club.

that'd sort it.

they've not even put an official complaint into the FA yet, also the steward assault story seems to have been forgotten about

I would've thought this could be resolved in an easy manner.

Why the hell aren't the communications between all four referees recorded!? This would result in two things:

1. The ref's could review their communications in the days after, together with the decisions made in the TV footage, to further enhance their ability to call a good game.

2. The mic's would pick up any and all communications between players and refs, resulting in these sort of claims by the Cheatski lot being sorted out on the spot.

How hard can it be?

it'll be hard for chelsea to prove, their own lawyers have recently pointed out how inaccurate lip readers are

Luiz's understanding of English is still very poor...

Considering how football's governing bodies have spent years avoiding goal line technology at all cost, I'm not betting on this them introducing this anytime soon...

this already exists - just isnt enforced as ref's are under too much pressure to keep games flowing and such like.
enforcing this rule would result in a plethora of games being called off due to 5 sendings off, and the PR that goes with it is unthinkable (and would end a refs career)

So Chelsea have dropped the Mata complaint but reported him for Mikel.

Chelsea Football Club today lodged a formal complaint with The Football Association regarding inappropriate language directed at John Mikel Obi by referee Mark Clattenburg. This is a result of a thorough investigation carried out by the club, and led by outside legal counsel, of all information available to us including interviews with a number of players and staff.

Following Sunday's Premier League game against Manchester United, club board members were quickly made aware, upon entering the home dressing room after the final whistle, that there were allegations of inappropriate language directed at Chelsea FC players by Mr Clattenburg during the game.

Board members began establishing the details of the allegations, speaking to all relevant players and staff. After those initial interviews it was clear that the matter had to be reported. The correct protocol for doing so was to report the incidents to the match delegate, and the club took immediate steps to inform him as soon as he was available. It was not a decision the club took lightly.

Since reporting the matter to the delegate, the club and outside legal counsel have conducted further investigations. Having completed that process we have now followed the correct protocol and lodged a formal complaint with The FA regarding John Mikel Obi. There was not sufficient evidence to support a second claim to The FA with regard to the alleged verbal abuse of another first team player.

We will cooperate fully with The FA and the Police as they each investigate the matter. As events on Sunday are now subject to those investigations we are unable to comment further until those processes are complete.

Arsenal have a history of scumminess that I don't think even Chelsea currently match.

If you're talking about current teams though, Arsenal are just fat, ginger tossers - Chelsea are destroying football.

Of course we could name an entire squad that has done bird/drugs, etc, etc, but I genuinely believe that if we put the two side-by-side, Chelsea are much worse. trust me, I don't know many who hate the filth as much as me, but they have never had a large racist following, never thrown bananas at their own players, never had electric fences proposed...

With regards to respect for referees, why not implement what happens in Aussie Rules. If you so much as question a decision against you, the opposition are awarded a free-kick 50 metres upfield. Something like this would soon cut out the backchat and screaming at officials (obviously not 50 metres, but say 30).

Something has to be done.
ALL complaints/questions on the field should come from the captain. Any others should be punished within reason. A player who DIRECTLY CONFRONTS a ref and argues a decision should be carded immediately; if that player has a complaint, they should get their skipper involved immediately. Their skipper should be on the scene fast and the skipper should do ALL the talking.

Why have they dropped the Mata complaint? Are they saying that this didn't happen??

It's a concoction isn't it?
-No fuss when the alleged comment was made.
the allegation is bought by players who had clearly lost control of their discipline during the game.
-The allegation was raised after some of these players allegedly threatened the match officials after the game.
the story from Chelsea is already evolving.
-Chelsea already have a rep for not taking racism seriously.

It seems to me the accounts of the other officials will be massively important here. If the refs comment could be heard by players quite remote from the conversation then they would definitely have heard this through their headsets.

It's checkmate already.
