Manager Sack Watch

Wasn’t just the results, we conceded a ridiculous amount of really cheap and similarly gifted goals too.

Other than the City game, we looked a mess in both directions.

Seems harsh and early.

I haven't seem a lot of Leicester this season. Whilst I don't want to overly criticise our academy products that did their best for us, they spent a fair bit of money to have both Winks and Skipp - They've both shown they can boss it in the championship but would you want them as your mainstay pairing in the Premier league?

Maybe they've actually been doing really well and it's the players around them who have been letting the side down, either way it's just speculation on my part as I say, but I am glad we banked decent money for both of them...

Dyche will be gone soon.. They have played all the bottom sides and now have all the top sides in a row coming up and will need to find a win soon or they'll be back in the bottom 3 very soon!

It was a poor appointment in the first place with his Forest history and not being a good fit at all for their squad. They simply can't afford to go down as they need the PL money to keep ticking over and the EFL will do them proper for any PSR issues, of which there are plenty.

It seems to be a Midlands thing, often swapping managers around. I wonder how much of it is out of convenience in terms of living arrangements.

Brain clough went to Forest with experience of managing Derby and that turned out okay didn't it?

Agreed on the relegation front but it's not even as if they're in the relegation zone, it seems premature to me.

Very different level players in my opinion.

If our club had done the right thing by Winksy, he'd possibly still be around. He desperately needed an operation on that ankle and time for conditioning to get back to his career runway. Spurs didn't let it happen and made him play sub-optimally for 2-3 years. They even made him play out of position as a number 6 whilst donkeys like Sissoko ruled the roost. I actually felt sorry for him. So, so different from that great 21 year old who we used to see replace Dembele and close our matches.

When Leciester get relegated, Harry should go abroad and have some fun. He'd be amazing in La Liga, like he was in Serie A with Sampdoria. I think some very smart PL side will snap him up though.

As for Skippy, high end Championship or even low end PL is where he fits. He's not always getting in the Leicester side this season. Think he's started 5 league games.

Interesting, although it's likely to be an agree to disagree on this one.

I'm not trying to poke / prod you on this one but it's interesting that you hold one Harry in very high regard, and have a real bugbear with the other notable Harry from our academy.

Winks got a lot of brick from fans and that's a shame but I'm not sure where your info regarding the medical department seemingly wrecking his career from - I appreciate that players are often given injections and it's just kicking the can down the road without the long term picture in mind. I didn't see Winks in the Italian league, but to me he could dictate a game if given time and space but not under pressure. A bit like a less reliable Leon Britton, or a more effective Tom Carroll?

Sissoko is a well trodden subject, and a great example of how differently people can see the same thing. I think a lot were down on him from the start and were expecting him to be something he wasn't. There was a season where it seemed like he was the only one trying a lot of the time imo. He wouldn't always know what to do with the ball but was physically imposing and opened up space with his runs.

Goes without saying it'd be great to see any of our academy products doing well so hopefully it'll pick up for Winks and Skipp for whichever club they represent..

Yeah, I know I'm a new poster on here. You wouldn't have known me when I was Harry K's biggest fan right up to him being about 27. Him and Eriksen. I just couldn't stand watching Harry pull out of tackles and especially headers and being deceitful in his work rate for our great club and his country. Guys like Winksy and Dembele never had that thought in their head. They left it all out there. They never thought it was OK to not engage in the physical battle and they never stopped showing for the ball. They put their bodies on the line for our club at their cost. We played on Kane's terms for the last 3 seasons and I still say Ange is probably quietly relieved that he didn't have to use the neuralyzer gun on Harry. It wouldn't have worked. It would have been a battle of 2 immovable objects and not healthy.

As for Sissoko, my problem is that him playing with his heart and refusing to play with his head became a problem. He was clearly a limited footballer but gave 110% for every club he played for. My perspective was always asking why Eriksen and Winks were sitting back and doing the water carrying for him. Sissoko certainly wasn't all bad in my head.

Finally, Winksy's ankle issues, have a little google around. You'll see news stories as early as 2017/18 when he first got injured and had his first op. You'll see further stories in 2020 when it was still re-occurring all the way through to the start of his Sampdoria nightmare start in 2022 when he had to go under the knife again. The perspective I was given from someone close to the player's camp was that it was another case in football of mis-treatment of a players physical health. That certainly jives with the press releases over the years if you read between the lines. He patched himself up when Wanyama and Dembele had their struggles through to when Dier had all of the appendix and injury issues through to when Conte was at the club. He had to have his own reputation sullied with the fans he adored because he was never once at 100% fitness. In my mind, he could never perform to the levels of his natural talent and commitment, and definitely not in his most natural position or in a football philosophy that suited his game.

Don't know enough to comment on Wink's ankle injuries

To me the big issue with Winks was he simply didn't get enough game time at a point where his development needed it, his first season in championship (at 27) was the first time he crossed 45 games in a season, Skipp did 47 on loan at 19/20

I really feel for them. It’s terrible. I hope it all works out.

Yeah, with you on that. So, so true with KWP and Japhet as well. They needed to be getting more miles on the clock at the younger age.

Tbf I alwats thought Kane and Ange wouldn't have been a great combination, him dropping deep just isn't what Ange wants. Solanke and Richy (if he could stat fit) are much more suited. I'm not sure I agree on work rate problems, however I am with you on the not challenging for headers. It's a really dangerous and sly move to stand near where the ball is landing and nudge a defender just when they're jumping , not a fan of that at all.

It's an interesting take on Winks, definitely a fresh perspective from my POV. Time will tell to a certain degree, if his injury problems are truly behind him that is. I wonder if once his playing days are over some stuff comes out from him directly about mismanagement of his conditioning, if it does you can definitely @ me with an I told you so!
