The player himself is quoted and feeling the need to talk about being at a club that wants him. By implication saying that the club don’t. Trying to make us look like the villains in this tiny story.

Again, I don’t begrudge him wanting to move to play. But the way he’s handling it is down to money and being unwilling to give us more years IMO. So far more nuanced, and I’m surprised people here, Spurs fans, are fine with him going against the club in this way.

Lets be clear, he has a ton of promise but many (list is endless) 19 year olds with promise turned out to be nothing special in the end. Clubs will take notice of the behaviour of him and agent, and it isn't going to help him (sure, some may ignore, consider it part of price of player).

And the fact that Brighton is the one willing to spend should tell him that .. it isn't Barca/Bayern saying "we know he is ready for this level"

Wanting to play football and finding a route to that. We have had pages of people say that lies away from the club, some saying he isnt good enough, now the player dare believe one part of that and people make up a rhetoric to hammer the lad.

This is like the pile on with Spence at the start here about so called attitude issues

Why a sell-on clause??

This situation happens all the time in Europe with no fuss. High profile team buys promising player but position already filled by established regulars. Solution: Sell player to a middling team who can give regular game time but include a mandatory buy back clause at a pre-set price that comes into play one or two seasons later. Example: Nico Paz at Como....

A really good point and absolutely correct

I find the position some are taking, to sell them to improve, but also have a pop at them too, really odd

We just brought in 2 further CBs to play ahead of him and supposedly want to send him out in loan at the very least. He's hardly being a dingdong or being unprofessional to decide to go somewhere that rates him right now more than we do.

I don't even buy the hype of him, but I don't see any issue with him making a move that he feels is best for his career and I certainly don't see that as unprofessional.

I don't believe in player loyalty because clubs will do what suits them, and yes, he should look out for his own interest, but he is making a lot of noise very early from not what I would consider a position of strength, no point arguing nuance of how professional/unprofessional it is, but it's hardly a good look for either party.

I don't think it matters whether it's Barcelona, Brighton or Burnley, he's has seemingly decided that he wants to go somewhere that he thinks is more conducive to his career and it makes sense from his perspective. We just signed 2 more CBs to play in front of him, we clearly we don't rate him right now as a serious first team option. He doesn't owe the club anything any more than the club owes him something. A players employment at a club is mutually beneficial if he now feels that isn't the case at Spurs so be it. He's entitled to want to go somewhere else permanently and not on loan if he thinks that's best for him and we are entitled to try and get the best fee for him or to try and convince him otherwise.

Time will tell if he's right or not, but that doesn't mean he's being unprofessional, he's just being realistic.

It's not about being a villain mate ..

I get his perspective, and have no disagreement with @Bishop point, I do think it's small caveats

- There is a difference between Brighton and Barca, one is the kind of opportunity you get once in a career, the other (if he's quarter as good as he thinks) comes along every season.
- A lot of what has been said in papers could have been said quietely.
