Lucas Moura

Jose Mou Mou said:
He's one of the players you're never worried about the way he approaches matches. With Lucas, there are not question marks about the things that I consider the basics/fundamentals of football. When I say basics, probably not the right word. The . The fundamental and the basic.

The fundamental is that you take your job in a very serious way. Doesn't matter if you start, if you are on the bench, if you are in the stands, there's no need for hypothetical extra sources of motivation. It's what I used to call, a professional from head to toe. He's this kind of player.

For him, the things that are not negotiable are the fundamentals. For me he's one of the players I totally respect because he's a proper professional.
This is clearly a dig at the rest of the team. Good stuff, they need a kick in the ass.

He’s been one of the very few to be able to hold his head high in these last few weeks. Continued his personal good form tonight.

Amazing how many people often have him on their sell list.

Really found a niche for himself, quietly tallying up the assists now as well (think that was number 6 or 7 all up for season w/9 goals)

Well its good to see some are coming around. Spurs fans always seem to have to have a fall guy who gets criticism no matter what they do on the pitch. When I started following Spurs it was John Pratt. Yes Moura often loses possession but he is comfortably our best player at making something happen when we are attacking overmanned defences and end up just cycling the ball via safe passes from side to side. His acceleration and quick feet enable him to beat at least two defenders at will. This briefly causes the dislocation of the defence but on most occasions he does this in splendid isolation with no team mates anywhere near him to pick up the bits until the window of opportunity slams shut. Rather than Moura stopping doing his thing, it is up to team mates to be more aware of the moments when he gets the ball in positions where the after burners are likely to ignite and get closer to him. Christ, he might even pass to them.

Is this quote true or something made up for his Wikipedia page?

“I had been getting it in the neck a bit from some of the sections of the crowd at Spurs but Bill expected his players to be men, and he said that the crowd paid our wages and were entitled to have their opinions. So one day, before I was due to play my first game at Old Trafford, I asked him what I could expect. He replied that it would just be like playing at Spurs, except that up there 55,000 people would hate me, whereas at Spurs it was only 45,000!”

Not sure if it is true but he was always being called out by s ome fans in those days. The truth is he played over 400 games for us and always gave is all. He did a lot of the dirty work for our star players which enabled those to shine. IMO
