Let's accept it and move on

And i am still waiting for someone to explain the formation/tactics today. Love him or loathe him nno way we would have only 2 points from these three fixtures under Redknapp.

No, last season we got 4 from these exact same fixtures.

I do like him as a person, he makes me laugh and is very engaging.

I do not have "TOTAL" respect for him on the football front for the reasons you describe - he showed us what these players was capable of and then allowed the standard to slip. I do have a lot of respect for him though, he has certainly given us some great highs

Hypothetically speaking, if we got 4th last season via a consistent 2nd half run instead of a 10pt lead over Arsenal and blowing it, this would change your view of in favour of him as a manager? Irrespective of still finishing 4th and missing out on CL due to Chelsea's outrageous luck

Sounds better than 2 to me. And we played far better football, fluid, cohesive in those games. Norwich beating us at home last year was somewhat fortuitous. Today they played us off the park. Face it, we were brick today and got what we deserved, same last week. AVB aint up to it. No one wanted him and it seems he has learned nothing from his time at chelsea. Arrogant, tactically crap. Levy has dropped a gonad and should carry the can.

Changing some of your most important players in the first XI and trying to get them to play together is never going to work. From what I've heard we looked dis-jointed today - something that will be put right when these new players start to play together more often (in matches and training).

Levy has left AVB with damp gunpowder heading into the season unfortunately. The players that he has at his disposal are capable of challenging for trophies and a top four finish, but he's had minimal time to get them to gel - and will continue to do so in the next few weeks.

If anypne can show me how AVB is an upgade on Redknapp I am all ears. Likewise, if someone can explain what the tactics were today please explain. Two defensive midfielders and one forward at home to norwich!!!!!???? Thank you Daniel Levy, you have completely destroyed my club.
:ross:

A good question, and honestly Im not sure.

On one hand a consistent level of performance level to achieve fourth would have me a lot more positive than collapsing.

On the other it would mean we didnt have the 11 game unbeaten run really showing what we were capable of - and so Redknapp wouldnt have maximised the squad potential.

Also, its not just the collapse - the situation was recoverable in the last few games - a win at Villa Park for instance...

The problem is it is difficult to tell exactly what AVB is up to. Today we didn't actively press high like we did in the last two games. if anything Norwich pressed more vigorously and further up the pitch than we did. Then we spend much of the game passing the ball aimlessly back and forth across the pitch, but never change the tempo or move the ball quickly and incisively forward.

AVB persists with patently unsuitable Defoe as a lone striker. Seems to value Livermore over Sandro. And switches from 4-2-3-1 to 4-4-2- and back to 4-2-3-1 without apparent purpose or reason.

No wonder the payers look confused. A bet there's already a few rumblings of discontent in private

PS Feel sorry for Hudd. Looked way off the pace, and then got a straight red in error. Not a comeback he will want to remember.

Glad you can see something to laugh at. Ive had a humour bypass. Any chance you can counter the argument? We are miles away from ehat we were last season and i blame Levy. Who do you blame?
My counter-argument is that Levy has not destroyed this club at all. He has overseen a transition from mid-table fodder to Champions League participants - and last season we were the fourth best team in the land. Daniel Levy is the best chairman this club has had for over twenty years. Yes he has his faults and I've got incredibly frustrated with him at times; but we've done remarkably well over the past few years.

We'd have been in la la land at 4th, 5th, 4th when Sugar was in charge.

Agreed but look at where we are now and the blame lays at his door. Whybthe hell did we sack Redknapp given the record you just quoted? Makes no sense at all.

Mate "destroyed" the club comes across as drama queen-esqe.

As PLJ says, Levy has had the trajectory of this club, with a couple of missteps along the way, consistently moving up and improving, both on and off pitch.

You blame Levy because Modric wanted to leave, because Ledley's knees were brick, because VDV wanted to be with his wife?

The only club that has been destroyed as of late (to my knowledge) is in Scotland and called Rangers. And even then they rose from the ashes.

He switches to 442 when we need a goal and then back to 4231 when we score. Its not rocket science.

No. I blame Levy for leaving major transfers to the last day and i blame him for destroying the stability at the club. We diidnt need revolution, we needed fine tuning. We didnt need to change the manager or perform a major squad overhaul. We were the 4th best team in the premier league and now it seems we are not.

Fine tuning?

Our Creative midfielder wanted to leave, our AM might also have wanted to leave, our club legend of a CD had to retire and to top it all off we had planned to release all but 1 striker and you think all that was needed was fine tuning?

Madness!..

In addition to the lack of cover in some areas.

I think one of the more annoying things for me about changing managers, on the board anyway, is the revisionism that occurs. We did better in these fixtures under Redknapp last year for sure but it is silly in the extreme to say that Norwich's win last season was fortuitous. They had a goal wrongly disallowed at 1-0, before we proceeded to go up the other end just minutes later and score. We then still lost and deservedly so.

And yes, both this week and last, we got what we deserved. The worrying thing for me this week is that, while there were positives to take from the Saudi Sportswashing Machine and West Brom games, there were very very few good things about our performance today.

I'll accept any excuse once someone, namely AVB, explains to me how suddenly Livermore is better than Sandro, Parker, Huddlestone, Jenas... Then I'll swallow the whole patience thing
