Juan Foyth

Who knows? Maybe with 40 games under his belt we would have already written him off and sold him?

Winks had no league experience but was trusted. Alli stepped up two divisions and was trusted. Foyth came from South America as green as can be and has been trusted - and crucially even trusted at RB ahead of KWP despite being a CB.

I dont think experience is the biggest factor in this equation as Poch has proven it is not a limiting factor.

The thing that I dont understand is that KWP clearly hasnt been terrible, Id say he has been ok, and yet he has still seemingly been written off - I wonder why? What has Poch seen (or not seen) to come to that decision?

For me KWP is complete opposites when he plays, MOM or the worst player on the pitch - doesnt seem to do 6 or 7 out of 10s!

I think he has all the tools to be a top 10 PL RB, but he needs game time.

Mopos insistence on playing Trippier last year was maddening - I wonder if it was a case of not wanting to be proved wrong over him?

I dont think Poch has that sort of ego. He wouldnt play a disfunctional player with better options available and sacrifice results, IMO.

I think its more an occams razor situation, Poch simply didnt trust KWP to perform/didnt think he was good enough.

I agree he has the tools to be a decent PL performer, which is why I said - I dont really know what it is thats put Poch off of him.

He has the ability, the work rate, we have seen no sign of poor attitude or mentality - even the Barca game, he had a nightmare early on and recovered, the sort of thing Id expect Poch to appreciate.

And yet all signs point to him not being good enough or wanted.

Alternatively - Poch being the one with first-hand knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of those two - knows exactly what he's doing?

It's not as though KWP wasn't also taken apart on a number occasions last season. For me he seems every bit as lightweight in defence. On top of that you have to factor in the massive difference in their levels of experience.

Maybe Poch can still work his magic on KWP but I'm yet to be convinced that he quite has what it takes to establish himself long-term in a team aspiring to win the PL.

Time will tell.;)

played almost every minute for Argentina in the Copa aMerica, invaluable experience for the boy, some solid performances.
Did well at RB in the third place play-off, which Argentina won, so Football London suggesting he could end up replacing Trippier/Aurier in that position. He's certainly more talented than either of them but how much less error prone is he?

Also, are we not grooming him to eventually replace one of Toby/Jan? Either way we'd still need to bring in a top defender so its not as though the switch would save us anything.

It does give us option. Get the best RB or CB available and use Foyth accordingly. Playing him at RB also allows him to play more games and help his development. Dier played a lot at RB at first

Good point, he is still only 21 and the more games he plays the better he will become

Thanks, I've just been managing to sleep properly since he was last mentioned, now more nightmares where I see him trying his left foot step over and turning like a super tanker.
Don't worry, Anthony Gardner will be along soon to take it all away....114 times.

Personally, I prefer him as a right back. I don't think he (yet) has the strength or power to be a centre half in the PL.

This clip will show why Poch wants to fit him in the team somewhere. Some of the above comparisons to Kevin Scott and Anthony Gardner above are a bit eyebrow raising. BTW, the music is awful so probably best watched with the sound off!

The kid is class. Still young, so errors are to be expected, but once he irons them out (which Poch will make sure he does), he'll be a top defender, be it a RB or CB.
